Workout Motivation: Fitness Progress Video Footage

I decided to video my fitness progress instead of snapping pics this time…

fitness thumb Workout Motivation: Fitness Progress Video Footage

I figured it was better for documenting where I’m at and evaluating what I need to work on most. I like this method! You should try it, too. But too bad my hair is a hot mess. That’s what happens when I kick my own ass in a training session. Check out the progress footage:

My thoughts? Definitely gotta take it to next level on arm and leg development. Go on and film your own progress for a little self-evaluation!

Fat Killer Workout (full instructions and video)

Let me just make it plain. This workout kicked my ass. Anybody need to kill some fat? My bawwdy is glistening in the video. It’s from the fat that died…

Fat Killer: FULL WORKOUT (4 exercises, 3 rounds)

6 reps high-knee jog burpees10 squats into alternating high-knees4 dive bomber push-ups10 alternating side kick-throughs

Try to move on to each exercise with as little rest as possible. But from what you see in the video, good GAWD, I needed rest. Just do your very best (no cutting corners!) and the fat will surely be killed.

MODIFICATIONS & PROPER FORM

During burpees, instead of a high-knee jog, do a high-knee march. Hit the deck completely (body totally on the floor) on the down-move.For squats, stick your booty out like you’re sitting in a chair. Get down low and don’t let knees go over toes. On the up-move, get that knee up high!Do the best you can with side kick-throughs. You may need to do this move very slow to get the coordination down if you’re just starting out. Although the legs are very much involved in this exercise, your arms and shoulders are gonna feel the burn.

EQUIPMENT CHECKLIST

None needed. Just bring your A-game and stay in Beastmode

Video Product Review and Giveaway: Quaker Real Medley’s

Quaker Real Medley's

Quaker reached out and asked if I’d be willing to review their latest product: Real Medleys. Before agreeing I asked a few questions…

Can I have a little more information on the product before I agree. My readers are looking for natural and low calorie options. Do you have ingredient lists and the nutritional information?

They sent back…

Quaker Real Medley's nutritional informationI’m including the Nutrition label for the Cherry Pistachio flavor oatmeal. All of the oatmeal varieties range from 250 -290 calories. The ingredients are not on this label, but I included them for your reference below as well. Let me know if it sounds like something your readers would be interested in.

Thanks!

Ingredients: Whole Grain Rolled Oats, Dried Sweetened Cherries (Cherries, Sugar), Multi Grain Blend (Whole Grain Rolled Oats, Rolled Barley,Whole Grain Rolled Rye),Brown Sugar,Pistachios, Almonds, Nonfat Dry Milk,Whole Grain Rolled Wheat,Natural Flavor,Salt.

Contains: Wheat, Almond, Pistachio and Milk Ingredients

After seeing that I agreed! I get all excited when big brands make convenient products with real food.

Our shipment arrived last week and I, again, put Little Guy to work helping me review…

He’s such a goof ball!

Anyway, as I said/showed in the video, Quaker Real Medley’s com in 4 flavors: Apple Walnut, Summer Berry, Peach Almond and Cherry Pistachio. To cook just add water and microwave for 45 seconds. You can’t get much easier than that! They are tasty, satisfying and convenient. A great combination for busy mornings and I love that you could eat them in the car on the way to work.

On to the Giveaway!

Simply leave a comment below to be entered to win a sample of Real Medleys and a $75 gift card. I will randomly pick a commenter and announce next Wednesday. Prize can only be shipped to the USA. Sorry my international friends. :(

Good Luck!

Update: People are asking about price in the comments and I realized I only mentioned it in the video. They are $1.79 each. Compared to bulk oatmeal it’s pricey but you have to take into consideration the additional ingredients and convenience. As they say, “Fast, Good or Cheap. Pick two.” These definitely fall in the fast, good category. Hope that helps!

Tough Mudder Training Video 1

I’m getting lots of questions about the mysterious "Tough Mudder" I have listed on my training schedule so I decided to do a little series about it.

Every weekend I workout with my friend, Derrick, "The Trainer." We do an hour of drills in between short 1/4-1/2 mile runs to simulate the event itself. Honestly, it’s my favorite workout of the week. We are outside using tires, cinder blocks, bags of sand, ropes, kettle bells, etc. and nothing makes me feel stronger or more fit. It’s just so FUN.

I can’t believe I just said that either.

Anyway, this past weekend he had me do about 5 drills in between the runs. These are from memory so bear with me.

RunSlide a cinder block with a rope through it backwards up a hill then pick it up run down. I think I did that 3 times with a few bear crawls mixed in. RunRun up said hill holding 2 15lb kettle bells straight up over my head (one in each hand.) Once I got to the top I did 10 pushups. Run back down. Did that 3 times I think. RunWalk on the curb like a tight rope holding 2 weighted bars (I think 6lbs each) up and outwards from my body. When I got to the end I ran back and repeated 3 times. RunRun up hill with one end of the rope, once I got to the top I pulled the rest of the rope up while the trainer gave resistance. Once he got to the top I ran the rope back down and did it again. I think we did that twice and then he made me carry the rope down and wrap it in a circle before running. It made me laugh. RunFinally this drill we decided to record….

I’m not sure if you heard me in the video but at one point I said my legs feel like rubber bands. This drill KILLED my outer thighs.

So that’s it. Now you all think I’m some kind of crazy insane workout person and I guess I am because this hour was one of my favorite parts of the weekend. When I workout doing these style drills time just flies. It’s nothing like staring at the clock on a treadmill.

I’ll get him to record me doing something next week and I’ll try to recap the best I can again.

If you are in the Baltimore area and want to workout with Derrick his training company is called No Limit Training. I highly recommend him and no, he didn’t pay me to say that. ;)

Oh! and I’m sure he’ll correct me in the comments if I messed something up.

Don’t know what the tough mudder is? Click here.

Video Product Review and Giveaway: That’s It Fruit Bars

My first video product review. How fun are these? Well, for me at least.

Less Writing = Less Typos. Considering my track record, that’s a bonus. HOWEVER, instead of a typo I made a ‘speach-o.’ Throughout the video I say “Peach” when I really mean “Apricot.” The three flavors are Cherry, Pear and APRICOT. Not Peach. Oy vey.

Here’s the deal. Watch the video, leave a comment and be entered to win your very own box of That’s It to try for yourself. That’s 12 free bars! I’ll pick a winner on Wednesday. Sorry, U.S. residents only. :(

Disclaimer: This is a paid review. ‘That’s It’ compensated me for posting as well and provided the bars free of charge. All opinions expressed are my own.

Video: My Ninja Kitchen System Demonstration (+ info on Ninja holiday sale)

Hey guys. Some of you remember when I bought my Ninja Kitchen System, you asked for my opinion on it. Here’s my video demonstration of the Ninja’s cool features (you’ll even see how I whip up my daily Shakeology). Ninja is having a holiday sale right now. Earlier in the year I paid $159.95 + the cost of shipping for my Ninja, but right now it’s on sale for $103.85 with FREE shipping.

Here’s my demonstration video…

I am NOT a Ninja affiliate and I do not gain monetarily by telling you about this deal. I just envy you right now, because you have the chance to snag it for waaay cheaper than I did. This is the only link where I see the sale price. If you go straight to the main web page, you might NOT see the discounted price, so use the sale link. I don’t know how long the sale price is good for, so don’t wait if you’re thinking about getting it for yourself or as a holiday gift. Enjoy!

Video Tasting! Yum Earth Organic Vitamin C Lollipops

Let’s all give Health-hater Husband a round of applause for forcing me to the store to fetch him bacon and cinnamon rolls. That’s the only reason I met up with the YumEarth Organic Vitamin C Pops.

The “certified organic” labeling smacked me in the face and, although still skeptical, I did further eyeballing of the package to discover these lollipops are also 100% vegan and contain 100% natural flavors with real fruit extracts. There are no artificial dyes, no GMO’s, and no High Fructose Corny-ness either.

And let me tell ya something. You can DEFINITELY taste the difference. These lollipops are NOT like regular candy. They don’t taste like Dums Dums or Tootsie Pops. YumEarth lollies are like fruit juice in lollipop form, and us greedy grown ups can capitalize on the tasty-natural-sweet flavor by using one of these 22-calorie pops to happily soothe our sweet-eating temptations. I kid you not.

And yes, my kids are crappy eaters, so the Vitamin C in every pop is an added bonus. I ate two (or three).

Video reaction from the Greedy Kids

It’s a healthy-genius idea to buy YumEarth Pops for Halloween, kids’ parties and other greedy moments.

POP NOTES

Price Paid: $.77 for bag of 15 lollipopsCalories: 22 (for one pop)Sugars: 6gVitamin C: 100% DVContains no fat, sodium, fiber or protein.

Yum UP! to: The only lollipop I’ll ever buy my kids from now on.  #win

Yuck Down to: Bacon and cinnamon rolls. I just…can’t…do it.

Finish It Monday (Video): Dealing With Flames Of Fitness Burn Out

Sooner or later we all feel the flames of fitness burn out. Unfortunately, that time for me has arrived. Like right now. Yep, I’m a little burned from being on the consistent grind with my fitness goals (it’s hard work!), and I’m feeling it quadruplefied from also tending to the Greedy Family. You know, being a mom ‘n stuff.  There’s ALWAYS so much to do.

So here’s my vlog to explain how I’m dealing with the very real issue of burn out. What’s a flaming woman to do? Does she shut down completely to fan the fire, or handle it another way…

So how about YOU? Anybody else feel the fitness flames sometimes?

How To Earn Your Bonus Star This Week (your assignment)

Shall we talk about D-word? …DOING! It doesn’t matter if you’re “doing” at 100 mph, or for whatever reason, you have to turn down the throttle to 35 mph for awhile: JUST DON’T STOP DOING. There is absolutely no way you can Finish What You Started if you don’t “do”.

Doing takes you places. Doing moves you forward. Doing gets you progress. Doing leads to finishing.

Your assignment this week is to  “do” on those days that you’ve planned to “do”, yet the urge to “not do” creeps up as a better option. (I hate when that happens!) And just like I yapped about in the vlog, if you’re forced to adjust your doing because of overwhelming irritations like burn out, injury, other unforeseen crap, etc., then please go on then. So long as you’re doing something! Because something is waaaay better than nothing.

Have a great week!

My Fila Real Women model video is *live*

Id make a snarkastic comment here about “the power of editing yada yada yada” but Im too in awe of the power of editing to come up with anything.

You’d never know it was FREEZING outside.

You’d never know I was feeling like an awkward, spastic gazelle.

AND, on top of it all, you can even see a snippet of my Seuss-sleeve.

Thank YOU for voting for me and thanks to FILA for staying true to the Real Women concept and portraying me precisely as I am (70 second video below).
