Fiber One Honey Clusters Cereal Review

Reviewed by Tanya Patrice | May 8, 2013

Fiber One Honey Clusters Cereal

The only cereal that my husband will buy for himself is Fiber One Honey Clusters Cereal. It's described as, "lightly sweetened whole grain flakes with honey clusters" and provides 51% of the daily value for fiber, which is the reason he buys it.

NUTRITION FACTS
Serving Size: 1 cup (52 grams)
Calories: 160
Total Fat: 1.5 grams, 2%
Saturated Fat: 0%
Sodium: 230 mg, 9%
Carbohydrates: 44 grams, 15%
Fiber: 13 grams, 51%
Sugars: 6 grams
Protein: 3 grams

The cereal looks like cornflakes with small oat clusters. I decided to see what it tastes like sans milk, and it is, as they say, lightly sweetened. When milk is added to the Fiber One Honey Clusters Cereal, somehow the sweetness comes through more, and while there are no unpleasant flavors, it's nothing that will make you go "wow!" The taste is a bit bran-ish, and sweet but not too sweet. For 51% of the DV for fiber though, I'll forgive a lot. Not to mention that there's only 6 grams of sugars per 1 cup serving - most other cereals I've come across have between 9-12+ grams.

A closer look at the ingredients list does reveal that they use sucralose (Splenda), an artificial sweetener, in addition to sugar, brown sugar, corn syrup, and malt syrup. Plus, the oat clusters have molasses and honey ... that's a lot of different types of sweeteners used to make this "lightly sweetened." Fiber One Honey Clusters Cereal also provides 160 calories per serving, only 1.5 grams of total fat and 3 grams of protein.

So if you don't mind artificial sweeteners, like the high fiber content, and don't mind that Fiber One Honey Clusters Cereal won't win any contests for it's taste - then this is not a bad way to start way to start your morning. I have this sometimes, but I much prefer Fiber One Frosted Shredded Wheat Cereal. It has more calories at 200 per 1 cup serving, less fiber (9 grams, which is still 35% of the daily value) and more sugar (12 grams), but it doesn't have the artificial sweetener sucralose and I prefer the taste.

Kashi Berry Fruitful Cereal Review

Reviewed by Tanya Patrice | Apr 30, 2013
Rating:

Kashi Berry Fruitful Cereal

Kashi Berry Fruitful Cereal is described as a cereal of "organic whole wheat biscuits with filling made with real fruit." Or as I like to say - a shredded wheat type cereal.

NUTRITION FACTS
Serving Size: 55 grams (29 biscuits)
Calories: 170
Total Fat: 0.5 grams, 1%
Saturated Fat: 0%
Sodium: 0%
Carbohydrates: 42 grams, 14%
Fiber: 6 grams, 23%
Sugars: 8 grams
Protein: 6 grams

Firstly, I love shredded wheat cereal in general because not only are they usually a hearty cereal, but they make a tasty snack as well. Secondly, I loved THIS cereal in particular. What a fantastic idea to have a fruit filling on the inside of the biscuits of Kashi Berry Fruitful for that added pop of sweetness. But watch out, this cereal soaks up milk, so be sure to eat it quickly less it gets too soggy. And let me add - this is a WHEAT cereal - I mean, one look at it, and you can see that, so expect it to taste like regular shredded wheat with a little pop of sweetness - it doesn't have any powdery sugar coating on the outside, thankfully so, and it doesn't have any "wheaty/ fibrous" taste - again, thankfully so.

Each serving of about 29 biscuits of Kashi Berry Fruitful Cereal provides 170 calories, very little fat, no sodium, 8 grams of sugars, 6 grams of fiber (23% of the daily value) and 6 grams of protein. The ingredients list shows organic whole grain wheat, organic evaporated cane juice, organic concord grape juice concentrate, organic inverted evaporated cane juice, organic corn starch, organic apple powder, vegetable glycerin, organic red raspberry puree concentrate, organic strawberry puree concentrate.

I purchased a 442 gram box of Kashi Berry Fruitful Cereal for a little less than $3.00 and would happily buy this again.

Cascadian Farms Cereal Whoredom: Cinnamon Crunch and Multi Grain Squares

cascadian Cascadian Farms Cereal Whoredom: Cinnamon Crunch and Multi Grain Squares

When the reality of Genetically Modified Organisms (GMO’s) started to sink deep down into my cranium, I thought it meant RIP to my cereal whoredom forever. Admittedly, right now I still buy cereals like Apple Jacks & Froot Loops for the family, but it’s in a weaning-off, dwindling down kind of way.

I haven’t forced them to go cold turkey, yet the purchases of the crap cereal are happening less and less. There will indeed come a time when that stuff won’t be in my house at all.

But alas! Cascadian Farm is cereal whoredom approved.

I’ve been on the lookout for healthy knockoffs of mainstream cereal for the family to stuff into their hungry jaws. In the past it hasn’t gone well. It led to rogue cereals of pure nastiness. But organic companies are finally starting to step up their tasty game.

Cascadian Farm Cinnamon Crunch is an excellent alternative to Cinnamon Toast Crunch. It’s got a light kiss of cinnamon, a nice crunch and less sugar, but still totally satisfying. The amazing thing is, you can taste that it’s organic’y. The absence of artificial crap really shines through and makes it taste that much better.

Cascadian Farm Multi Grain squares is comparable to Multi-Bran Chex, but Cascadian’s flavor is waaaay better and comes with all the tasty perks of organic and non-GMO, along with all their other products (according to their website).

See that! I’m making progress. My family is transitioning away from crap cereal and my own personal cereal whoredom is no longer in jeopardy. It shall remain intact.

Cascadian has some other stuff out, too, like Fruitful O’s and their new Chocolate O’s. But I can’t speak on the taste. I haven’t tried those just yet.

But hold on there! There’s two drawbacks you gotta know about: Cascadian comes in smaller packages and can be pretty dang expensive for the size — close to $4 per box, if not more. But it’s still worth you picking up at least one box if you haven’t already. Give it a try and allow your taste buds to experience the healthy, fanciful flavor. If cereal isn’t your thing, just keep any kids in mind that cling to you frequently. Young children are skilled at cereal hoovering, so you may as well make it better for them.

Cereal: List of Likely Geneticially Modified Brands

Have you read the recent NaturalNews.com article about 10 cereal most likely to contain Monsanto’s GMOs? Get over there and read the entire thing for yourself.

Here’s a snippet from that piece to flame your fire of enragement over all this GMO (genetically modified organism) bullshit:

“…I visited a local grocery store in Austin, Texas and purchased 10 breakfast cereals made with high levels of non-organic corn…. You may also notice that most of the cereals most likely to contain GM corn are children’s cereals. It is the children in America who are being fed the most GMOs. This represents a highly unethical food experiment being conducted on an entire generation, and the long-term effects of human consumption of GMOs are simply not known… What we do know is that rats fed this very same Monsanto GM corn developed shockingly large cancer tumors.”

The 10 cereals listed in the article are:

Cocoa PuffsCorn ChexFrosted FlakesHoney Graham Oh’sHoney Nut ChexKashi Heart to HeartCorn FlakesCorn PopsKixPeanut Butter Puffins

((sigh))

And then the article goes on to show some pretty terrible pictures of rats with tumors who were “fed a ‘lifetime’ of Monsanto’s GM corn”.

The author also states, “There is only one brand of breakfast cereal I know of that’s 100% non-GMO and 100% organic across their entire product line.” Find out which brand that is.

Proposition 37 is the push to label genetically modified foods (it’s being met with opposition by some big companies), so get informed about it and keep an eye on the #YesOn37 hashtag on Twitter.

If you’re not sold on the issue of GMO’s or it’s just not that important to you right now, at least think about your children, and your children’s children.

This is gonna get much uglier if we sit back and allow the Monsanto and DuPont beasts to breed more destruction into our food supply. I’d sure as hell love to get at those companies with many drop kicks to their proverbial balls.

Put It In Your Food Trap! Zevia Natural Soda, Barbara’s Baked Cheese Puffs, and Quaker Hearts Cereal

…but before we get into this round of featured Food Trap selections, I first need to bitch to you excessively about the Attune Mint Chocolate Probiotic Bar. I drove 35 freaking miles round trip because the Attune store locator said the Bar was carried at this hippie-ish natural food store that’s real out of the way ‘n such. So I drive really far (on my lunch break, at that) and the store doesn’t have the damn Bars. Attune Chocolate is highly delicious and probiotically beneficial. I’ve been wanting another taste for close to a year now, but I’m done searching high and low, and racking up vehicle mileage in an expedition to find this elusive bionic chocolate bar. Yes, you can order it online, but you also have to pay a premium for heat-sensitive shipping. I’m too cheap for that. Oh, and somebody owes me gas money.

Zevia Ginger Ale Natural Soda: Lemme just break it down to you like it says on the can: “Zevia contains no sugar and no calories. It’s made with 100% natural ingredients, including Stevia, a botanical sweetener used around the world for hundreds of years. It’s what soda should always have been.” Nice! It also contains the sugar alcohol erythritol, which doesn’t effect blood sugar and is no big deal to me (unless you get gassy from it). Zevia is decent tasting. It reminds me of store brand ginger ale — not terrible but not the #1 best ginger ale either. I detected a slight aftertaste after slurping a few gulps, but still definitely worth trying if you can find it at the store. I also peeped Cola, Orange and Grape flavors of Zevia.

No caffeine, no gluten, zero net carbs. Zero calories and fat, Sodium 20mg, Sugars 0, Erythritol 7g, Protein 0g

Barbara’s Baked Cheese Puffs: It’s a cheese puff. How fancy could it be? Welp, the natural cheesiness really shines through. And it’s made with cornmeal, which gives it a pleasant texture and taste that’s NOT like the others. Consider it a healthier side item to eat alongside a sammich or while couch-assing. Barbara’s Baked Cheese Puffs have no artificial flavors, colors or preservatives, and no hydrogenated oils either, so it empowers you to get puffy with no guilt. Unfortunately, I allowed Greedy Kid #3 to run off with the bag after dinner. I trusted him. But by bed time the whole dang thing was empty. Yes, I’m a terrible mother for insufficiently monitoring the child’s greediness. Just go on and say it, why don’t ya.

150 Cal for 1.5 cups, Fat Cal 90, Total Fat 10g, Sodium 200mg, Carbs 14g, Fiber 1g, Sugars 1g, Protein 2g

Quaker Hearts Cereal: This one can be accurately described as “fake Alpha-Bit’s cereal for grown-ass folks and kids who eat too much damn sugary shit”. It has pretty much the same feel, size and visual texture of the infamous Alpha-Bit, but with a tad less sugar and shaped like little hearts instead of bits of broken off vocabulary pieces. The taste is highly Alpha-Bitsy with the perfect low-key touch of sweetness to encourage continued cereal whoredom to prevail. I freaking love it, but still not able to find Hearts Cereal consistently stocked at every store I lurk at. That’s a low down dirty shame.

110 Cal for 3/4 cup, Fat Cal 15, Total Fat 1.5g, Sodium 160mg, Carbs 23g, Fiber 3g, Sugars 6g, Protein 2g

Well that’s it for now, so go on and start chewing on something. I’m really liking this new Put It In Your Food Trap feature. Definitely more to come!

Oh, and one more thing: Diets In Review just did an article reviewing the meal planning site, FoodOnTheTable.com. There’s a few quotes from me about the usefulness of Food On The Table, so check out the article to see if it’s something that might be helpful in your own meal planning.

Put It In Your Food Trap! Kellogg’s Krave Cereal, Kashi 7 Grain Waffles, and a Chocolate Cake Surprise

Kellogg’s Krave Cereal: If I haven’t told you in a while, I’m still a cereal whore deep down in my soul. Krave is on the of the newest thangs on the cereal block, and I gotta admit, I like it lots. Krave has a whole grain shell filled with a teeny bit of chocolate in the center, and there is ZERO High Fructose Corny-ness inside. Krave gives you crunchy, chocolatey, whole-grainy and light sweetness all wrapped into one. Just be sure to activate your self control, because you just might Krave the whole damn box until its gone.

Kashi 7 Grain Waffles: Just when you thought your relationship with frozen waffles was going extinct, along comes the Kashi making it taste all extra delicious ‘n stuff. Forget about whatever it is you think you know about instant waffle pucks. Kashi all natural waffles deliver succulent, warm & fluffy texture with 7 grains of glory that truly taste delicious. But don’t just chew on them for breakfast. Kashi Waffles also make a healthy nighttime snack. Just smather on a light spreading of butter, drizzle with a bit of honey and then bite into it whole (no fork & knife required). I dare you to tell me its not tasty that way.

Amy’s Chocolate Cake: If you happen to be hanging around the grocery checkout line this week, go on and snag yourself the January 6th issue of Woman’s World Magazine (the one with Dr. Oz on the cover). Why? Because they’re talking about treats for health-conscious peeps, featuring my greedy opinion on Amy’s Organic Chocolate Cake on page 45. I first told you about Amy’s this past September in a Taste Test, and I still think it’s delicious and totally do-able to enjoy within a sensible diet. I’m a repeat customer of this vegan, organic cake. Click the on image below to enlarge and read my Woman’s World blurb.

…and I couldn’t help but to be inspired by that big azz SparkPeople ad on the right side of the page. Do you see where it says “This is YOUR year!” …I do agree. This IS your year. You bettah grab 2012 by the horns and make it your bitch.

Get Into My Food Trap! Silver Palate Cereal, Green Giant Steamers and Veggie Patch Broccoli Bites

I interrupt my regularly posted Taste Tests to bring you a brand new dish called “Get Into My Food Trap!”  No foods of pure nastiness shall be discussed right now – only the good ‘n tasty stuff that I’ve been chewing on behind closed doors. And now it’s time you knew about it:

Silver Palate Grain Berry Flakes: If you’re thinking bran cereal is only for the geriatric community with their grandma underpants, dentures and walking canes, go on and think again. There’s no actual berries in this bowl of bran, but the flavor makes up for any type of dehydrated fruit you thought would be included. The flakes are delicate, yet pack a crazy punch of crunch with lovely taste. Grain Berry Bran Flakes have so much swag, you’ll race to snag that last bit of milk for another bowl before your hungry family has a chance to wake up and scrape the crust outta there eyes. They snooze, they loose. They can eat a frozen waffle puck. Or a boiled egg or something.

Calories: 120 for 3/4 cup, Sodium: 180mg, Carbs: 24g, Fiber: 5g, Sugars: 5g, Protein: 6g

Green Giant Broccoli & Cheese Sauce Steamers: I had to read the back of the bag 3 times, because I couldn’t believe the directions were that simple. But, yep, it’s really easy. Just pop the entire bag into the microwave (no stabbing of the bag for venting is required). I cooked the package for 6 minutes, tore it open and ate the whole thing (damn right, I did). I don’t care that the package contains 3 servings. At 45 calories per serving, my stomachs can afford to accommodate all that greediness goodness. There were plenty of broccoli trees (not just a bunch of end-butt pieces like in other frozen broccoli packages). And I’m so glad the cheesiness was not over the top – just the right amount with no excessive globs of cheesy to calorically challenge the booty, thighs and cankles. Check out Green Giant product page for a breakdown of all the Steamers varieties. I’ll be eating more tomorrow.

Calories: 45 per 1/2 cup, Sodium: 200mg, Carbs: 7g, Fiber: 2g, Sugars: 3g, Protein: 6g

Veggie Patch Broccoli Bites with Cheese: Anytime a bacon-toting, carnivorous manly-man (my husband) asks you to throw some more broccoli bites into the oven, you know you’re onto something delicious. It looks like a chicken nugget, but a wee bit larger. Although the cheesiness is an afterthought (you can barely tell it’s in there) these hearty Bites taste great anyway. The breading looks extremely fresh, especially considering you don’t pick these up in the frozen aisle – go snag them out of produce. Husband wanted more. So did I. You can even get fancy and take the Bites to work for microwaving. If you are a fancy person, please give yourself 5,000 bonus points right this very second.

Calories: 160 for 4-pieces, Sodium: 400mg, Carbs: 18g, Fiber: 2g, Sugars, 2g, Protein: 6g

So there ya have it. My latest finds that deserve to get in my food trap over and over again. Try one or try ‘em all. You won’t be disappointed.

Fiber One Honey Squares Cereal Review

Fiber One Honey Squares Cereal

When an opportunity to try a cereal with 80 calories. 10 grams of fiber (40% of the daily value) and 3 grams of sugars, it's a given that I will be the first in line. So when I was asked if I wanted samples of Fiber One Honey Squares Cereal, well - I was only thinking of you dear readers and writing a review.

NUTRITION FACTS
Serving Size: 3/4 cup (30 grams)
Calories: 80
Total Fat: 1 gram, 1%
Saturated Fat: 0%
Sodium: 140 mg, 6%
Carbohydrates: 25 grams
Fiber: 10 grams, 40%
Sugars: 3 grams
Protein: 1 gram

The puffed flakes are a little sweet - not too much, not too little - and there is a hint of honey, but also it has a very wheaty taste - as they said over at The Impulsive Buy, you CAN taste the fiber. I really did like it though - and surprisingly - so did the kids. I didn't think there would ever be a cereal that wasn't very sugary that they would like.

Each 30 gram serving (about 3/4 cup) of Fiber One Honey Squares Cereal provides 80 calories, from 1 gram of total fat, 10 grams of fiber (40% of the daily value), 3 grams of sugar and 1 gram of protein.

Coupons.com

The ingredients include, whole grain corn, corn bran, modified wheat starch, inulin, sugar, corn meal, corn starch, gum arabic, salt, color added, trisodium phosphate, honey, natural and artificial flavor, sucralose, vitamin E (mixed tocopherols) added to preserve freshness, plus various vitamins and minerals.

Fiber One cereals tend to be very pricey - $4.29 when not on sale. Luckily, they go on sale regularly (and I received samples so I could provide a review), BUT, if you eat a lot of cereal and are looking for something low calorie and full of fiber - then I think it's worth the price. As I said before, it's also pretty good to snack on.

Fiber One Frosted Shredded Wheat Cereal Review

Fiber One Frosted Shredded Wheat Cereal

Fiber One Frosted Shredded Wheat Cereal is described as, "whole grain shredded wheat biscuits with a light frosting bring the perfect balance of delicious taste and nutrition ... with 35% of the daily value for fiber in every serving."

NUTRITION FACTS
Serving Size: 1 cup (60 grams)
Calories: 200
Total Fat: 1 gram, 2%
Saturated Fat: 0%
Sodium: 0%
Carbohydrates: 50 grams
Fiber: 9 grams, 35%
Sugars: 12 grams
Protein: 5 grams

Of the Fiber One cereals reviewed so far, this is my favorite. It is lightly sweet, the wheat biscuits are compact and not stringy (like Post Honey Nut Shredded Wheat) and crunchy. Yes, you can add milk and have it like you would normally eat a cereal, or you can just eat the sweet wheaty biscuits straight, as a snack - that's my favorite way - while sipping tea of course! And what's even better - this is one Fiber One cereal that does NOT have sucralose in the ingredients list.

It reads, whole grain wheat, sugar, corn bran, guar gum and gelatin. BHT is added to packaging to preserve freshness. Plus there are the usually added vitamins & minerals.

Coupons.com

Each 1 cup, 60 gram serving of Fiber One Frosted Shredded Wheat Cereal provides 200 calories, 1 gram of total fat, no sodium, 9 grams of fiber (35% of the daily value), 12 grams of sugars and 5 grams of protein. That's similar to Kashi Organic Promise Autumn Wheat Cereal (Review), which I also really like.

I bought a 15.1 ounce box for $4.29, and although it cost more than a lot of other cereals, but I don't regret the purchase. I'll be waiting for Fiber One cereals to go on sale at the grocery store and buying Fiber One Frosted Shredded Wheat Cereal again.

Tasting! Uncle Sam Strawberry Cereal

Errr. You caught me. That’s me at Fitbloggin chomping on the Uncle Sam Strawberry Cereal while the kettlebell session was going on nearby that I didn’t go to. But in my defense? That session was jam packed overflowing with peeps, and there was a lot of body heat in there. Okay!?!

So activated Plan B: cereal eatin’ in the hallway.

I use Uncle Sam Strawberry Cereal strategically. Sure it’s a breakfast cereal, so go on and do that after you scrape the crust out of your sleepy eyeballs. But I’d rather eat it for lunch or evening snack, because the hearty-filling texture, coupled with the slap of VERY LARGE freeze dried strawberry slices and whole flax seeds makes it a multi-tasking powerhouse.

Now choose from list to guess what kinda of multi-tasking joy it brings me.

A.) It makes my stomach shut the hells up for an extended time frame.

B.) The sweet strawberries keep my taste sensors happy.

C.) The child-spawns don’t steal it because there’s no cartoon clown on the box.  (but this clown went too damn far)

D.) The ingredients list is short and pronounceable: Toasted Whole Wheat Berry Flakes (Whole Wheat Kernels, Salt, Barley Malt, Vitamin B2), Vitamin B1, Flax Seed, Sugar, Freeze Dried Strawberries, Natural Flavor.

E. No preservatives. Nada.

F.) All of the above.

If you guessed F, you win 10 points AND get to do a free round of 100 speed squats before dinnertime. <– (C’mon! It’ll only take you like 5 minutes.)

Chia Goodness Apple Almond Cinnamon Cereal Review

Chia Goodness Apple Almond Cinnamon Cereal

Chia Goodness is a "new concept breakfast cereal" (as described by their website). The ingredients are completely raw - just stir in milk or water, hot or cold, and wait a few minutes for it to thicken, giving it the comfort quality of oatmeal. I received a sample of Chia Goodness Apple Almond Cinnamon Cereal to review, and since I was already hip to the "new concept" thanks to my experience with Chia Goodness Cranberry Ginger Cereal, I knew what to expect ... that this should not be eaten as a cereal!

NUTRITION FACTS
Serving Size: 2 tbsp
Calories: 130
Total Fat: 6 grams, 9%
Saturated Fat: 0.5 grams, 3%
Sodium: 125 mg, 5%
Carbohydrates: 16 grams
Fiber: 4 grams, 16%
Sugars: 4 grams
Protein: 4 grams

Now don't get me wrong - I ADORE Chia Goodness Apple Almond Cinnamon Cereal - but the tag line should be something like, "we make cereal better." And I say that because one serving is 2 tablespoons, which provides 130 calories from 6 grams of total fat, 0.5 grams of which is saturated (9% and 3% of the daily value), 4 grams of fiber (16% of the DV), 4 grams of sugars and 4 grams of protein ... no way I could eat 2 tablespoons of anything and call it breakfast!

So I add this to stuff - and it makes it better. I add Chia Goodness to plain cereal, like the ever so nutritious yet slightly bland Weetabix Organic Crispy Flakes & Fiber Cereal - it makes it taste better - interesting texture from the chia seeds and almonds, plus it makes it even more nutritious! I add Chia Goodness to plain oatmeal - it makes it 10x better. I add it to plain yogurt - wowza!

Coupons.com

The ingredients in Chia Goodness Apple Almond Cinnamon Cereal are chia, buckwheat, hulled hemp seeds, dehydrated apples, almonds, raisins, organic cane sugar, cinnamon, Celtic sea salt. A 12 ounce bag costs $7.50 online (via their website), which is not as expensive as it seems - a bag has about 11 servings, and I don't typically use more than 1 serving at a time.

This has become a staple in my pantry - I've started to automatically reach for this when I make oatmeal in the mornings.

Rokit Fuel Stud Muffin Cereal Review

Rokit Fuel Stud Muffin Cereal

Since I had already experienced Rokit Fuel Cherry Almond Cereal Review, I knew it was heavy on the oats, so this morning, when I wanted a filling breakfast (8 mile run yesterday and 2400 yard swim today demands fuel), I decided to have Rokit Fuel Stud Muffin Cereal as a "hot cereal" breakfast.

NUTRITION FACTS
Serving Size: 95 grams
Calories: 380
Total Fat: 12 grams, 18%
Saturated Fat: 1 gram,, 5%
Sodium: 135 mg, 6%
Carbohydrates: 63 grams
Fiber: 6 grams, 24%
Sugars: 23 grams
Protein: 9 grams

I boiled some water and added it to the Rokit cereal already in a bowl and stirred it around - this absorbs water. The taste was sweet, but not too much so and it seemed like every bite had a crunch from nuts - I thought it was almonds, but there's also sunflower seeds, pecans, sesame seeds and walnuts listed in the ingredients list. There was also quite a bit of blueberries (which to me tasted like chocolate chives - possibly because of all the spices added), and I love my tart cherries in cereal, but they seemed to lose the tartness here. Still, I LOVED this as a "hooked up oatmeal." Quite tasty and very filling.

Coupons.com

Each 95 gram container of Rokit Fuel Cherry Almond Cereal provides 380 calories, 12 grams of total fat, 1 gram of which is saturated fat (18% and 5% of the daily value), 6 grams of fiber (24% of the DV), 23 grams of sugars and 9 grams of protein. The ingredients are all natural.

That's a lot of calories for breakfast - but like they say, this is Endurance Food, and not only that, I found this to be a filling breakfast. I had an apple a few hours later, but felt no "I'm starving" hunger pangs when lunch time rolled around. I received samples from the company, but it can be purchased online through Rokit.com where a 6 pack cereal cup costs $17.94 - almost $3.00 each, which is pricey, so I would save this for mornings when I know I'm going to using a lot of energy - like running a half marathon, or doing a triathlon.

Kashi Heart to Heart Oat Flakes & Blueberry Clusters Cereal Review

Kashi Heart to Heart Oat Flakes & Blueberry Clusters

Kashi Heart to Heart Oat Flakes & Blueberry Clusters is described as, "a delicious blend of crispy oat flakes and crunchy oat clusters made with sun-sweetened blueberries, one of nature's antioxidant fruits."

NUTRITION FACTS
Serving Size: 55 grams (1 cup)
Calories: 200
Total Fat: 2 grams, 3%
Saturated Fat: 0%
Sodium: 80 mg, 3%
Carbohydrates: 44 grams
Fiber: 4 grams, 18%
Sugar: 12 grams
Protein: 6 grams

With this cereal, the flakes taste strongly of blueberry flavor and are sweet, but as for the oat clusters, they are very small and don't pack much flavor, nor add much texture. I find that I'm not really into "corn flakes type cereal" and although I liked this cereal okay, I much prefer Kashi Heart to Heart Warm Cinnamon Oat Cereal which I had the day before - and which coincidentally, has more fiber and less sugar.

Each 55 gram serving of Kashi Heart to Heart Oat Flakes & Blueberry Clusters Cereal (1 cup), provides 200 calories, 2 grams of total fat, 4 grams of fiber (18% of the DV), 12 grams of sugars and 6 grams of protein.

The ingredients list is a little lengthy, but has no artificial sweeteners - it starts off with oat blend (whole grain oats, oat bran), rice, evaporated cane juice syrup and whole grain rolled oats.

I received samples of Kashi Heart to Heart Cereals from the company, but this sells for $3.99 at my local grocery store. I would buy this over Kellogg's Frosted Mini-Wheats Blueberry Muffin Cereal and Total Blueberry Pomegranate Cereal both of which have artificial colors and no blueberry in the ingredients list, but this is not one of my favorite Kashi cereals.

Kashi Heart to Heart Warm Cinnamon Oat Cereal Review

Kashi Heart to Heart Warm Cinnamon Oat Cereal

I received a few different types of Kashi Heart to Heart Cereal to consider for review here. Since, I love adding cinnamon to EVERYTHING (including coffee), I started with Kashi Heart to Heart Warm Cinnamon Oat Cereal. On Kashi's website, it mentions that, "Heart to Heart cereal was created with more heart healthy ingredients to make taking care of your heart enjoyable." And indeed the packaging is rife with details on how this cereal may be beneficial to your health.

NUTRITION FACTS
Serving Size: 33 grams (3/4 cup)
Calories: 120
Total Fat: 1.5 grams, 2%
Saturated Fat: 0%
Sodium: 80 mg, 3%
Carbohydrates: 25 grams
Fiber: 5 grams, 19%
Sugar: 5 grams
Protein: 4 grams

Oh I really like this variety. The flavor is not complex, but is simply cinnamony, lightly sweet and crunchy. Not only is it good as a cereal eaten in the traditional way with milk (or almond milk in my case), but it's also pretty good as a stand-alone snack. I actually prefer this to the Kashi Heart to Heart Honey Oat Waffles (which is also pretty good too).

Each 33 gram serving (3/4 cup) provides 120 calories, only 1.5 grams of total fat, 5 grams of fiber (19% of the daily value), 5 grams of sugars and 4 grams of protein. There is also 100% of the daily value for vitamin E, folic acid, vitamins B6 and B12. So there's more fiber and less sugar in Kashi Heart to Heart Warm Cinnamon Oat Cereal, than in Honey Nut Cheerios.

The ingredients list while a little lengthy, has nothing to be alarmed about, and starts with whole oat flour, oat bran, evaporated cane juice, yellow corn meal and corn flour. I love the simplicity of this cereal. The flavor is on point, nothing too complex and it's simply nutritious.

As previously mentioned, I received Kashi Heart to Heart Warm Cinnamon Oat Cereal from the company, but this retails for $3.99 at my local grocery store. I typically wait until it's on sale to buy Kahi cereals, since they are a bit pricey, and I'll be keeping an eye out to actually buy this.

Nature's Path Organic Love Crunch Cereal Review

Nature's Path Organic Love Crunch Cereal

I received a box of the limited edition Nature's Path Organic Love Crunch Cereal to review. The description on the front of the box read, dark chocolate chunks, raspberry, strawberry, coconut & flax granola. Now as tasty as that sounds, it also seems rather decadent and calorie laden, so I decided to scope out the nutrition facts first.

NUTRITION FACTS
Serving Size: 3/4 cup (55 grams)
Calories: 260
Total Fat: 9 grams, 14%
Saturated Fat: 2 grams, 10%
Sodium: 25 mg, 1%
Carbohydrates: 38 grams
Fiber: 4 grams, 16%
Sugar: 10 grams
Protein: 5 grams

Each 55 gram (3/4 cup) serving of Nature's Path Organic Love Crunch Cereal provides 260 calories, 9 grams of total fat, 2 grams of which is saturated (14% and 10% of the daily value), 4 grams of fiber (16% of the DV), 10 grams of sugars and 5 grams of protein. Unfortunately, that calorie count is way higher than any cereal I would normally consume - give me some Nature's Path Organic Flax Plus Multi Bran Cereal at 110 calories per serving, or Nature's Path Optimum Organic Strawberry & Yogurt Cereal at 170 calories for a 1 cup serving - and I'm good.

But, the taste is phenomenal. The cereal is crunchy (but not as hard as Kashi GoLean Crunch) and the chocolate chunks are plentiful, so they provide a nice change in texture as well as a pop of sweetness. I wish there had been more berry pieces, because they provide a little tartness, but they were few and far between.

The ingredients list is of course, all natural & organic. Nature's Path Organic Love Crunch Cereal can be purchased at Whole Foods (not sure of the retail price but it's usually $4 - $5), but as mentioned before, there are other, less caloric, all natural cereal choices out there. I do love me some Nature's Path products, but this cereal would not be a regular everyday cereal for me.
