Game: Yum Yucky Mad Libs For Greedy People

Nope. It’s not official Mad Libs. I created this one up all by myself. Kinda corny? Yes. But I still laughed pretty good once the blanks were filled in.

If you remember Mad Libs as a kid, but sure to follow the rules: Print out the page and do this with a friend, or print and fill it in yourself, but don’t you dare read the story until after you fill in the blanks. hehehehe

A Yum Yucky Reader Chronicles Her Tummy Tuck Journey As It Unfolds

This fabulous woman shall remain anonymous, but let’s just call her “Hannah”. Hannah is a longtime Yum Yucky reader (thanks, gurrrl!), and on Tuesday, November 15, 2011, she underwent tummy tuck surgery.

In the past, I thought tummy tucks were only for lazy people looking for a shortcut to slim, but when my own stomachs began to shrink down, I soon realized that tummy tucks are not always about cutting away the fatty parts – it’s about taking care of the problem of loose skin due to weight loss and/or pregnancy. I can relate to Hannah and her decision to undergo tummy tuck surgery for these very reasons. I might even do this myself one day.

Hannah’s Stats

Age: 53Weight: 138 poundsHeight: 5’6?Birthed child-spawns?: Yes

From Hannah: “This is how I justify my decision to have the surgery:  Between April and December 2010 I lost 30 pounds through calorie reduction and exercise. I’ve been maintaining since then. My skin is ruined and saggy, and my belly button is awful. In today’s clothes it is hard to hide that. My stomach skin is going to be stretched from my navel to just above my pubic area. Knowing that bothers me. I’m nervous that the outcome won’t be what I’m looking for (less girth). I’m very nervous about losing and then regaining my fitness progress.”

Hannah’s Pre- and Post-Op Surgery Info

Pre-op tests: EKG and CBC (Complete Blood Panel)Outpatient Surgery Date: 11/15/11Cost of surgery: $7,900 (she paid in cash, not financed)Post surgery medications: Percocet, Valium, antibiotics and anti-nausea patch.

Hannah’s post-surgery picks in the kitchen:

Proteins (like Greek yogurt, chicken)FruitLara barsLean CuisineShakeology

From Hannah: These foods are “all are easy to consume and fix. I usually eat a lot of veggies each day and I’ll have them around, but I think they might take a bunch of energy to consume. I also plan to use Shakeology during my recovery. Many surgery patients complain of constipation after such an event due to pain meds and lack of food and water. I hope Shakeology will help me heal and offset the aforementioned possibility.”

Her pre- and post-surgery concerns: “My main problems with having surgery are: Maybe the money is better used for donations to worthy charities. Maybe I’m vain and I should just be happy with what I’ve been given in life. Maybe when I fix one thing, another will “need fixing”. Maybe 4-6 weeks of reduced ability to exercise will undo all the progress I’ve made and I’ll never regain my current habits.”

What do you think of Hannah’s concerns? Despise Hannah’s reservations to surgery, I’m glad she went through with it and I can’t thank her enough for her courage and generosity in sharing her pictures and story with us. Hannah will be checking back in periodically with more pictures and commentary to keep us posted on her ongoing progress and results.

Would you consider tummy tuck surgery for yourself?

Yucky Day Turned Sensational Sunday

Today was just crappy. Cold. Rainy. The worst kind of December day.

But I didn’t let that stop me from having a Sensational Sunday! It all started with an amazing breakfast…

Omelet with onion, peppers, spinach and ham paired with a whole wheat english muffin and jelly. My favorite. :)

Once out bellies were full it was time to hit the stores. Christmas is getting awfully close and I hate waiting until the last minute. We did stop to play a bit. Little man is currently obsessed with dinosaur pop-up books. Although today he informed me he no longer wanted to be a paleontologist when he grows up. Now it’s a “house builder” so he can use back hoes. lol

After a few hours we needed to refuel. There’s a new burger place nearby called Z-Burger that has the MOST amazing veggie burger. I top it with every vegetable in the house and split fries with the family. Such an awesome meal!

We came home and played a bit with some early Christmas gifts we got from a family friend.

Here’s little man and husband reading about Sea-Monkeys. His expression is priceless!

Notice the laundry in the background. We weaved laundry duties in all day to get it done. I HATE starting the week with fill laundry baskets.

Little Man and I also checked in on our apple trees. We planted some seeds from an apple we shared a few weeks ago.

I can’t believe how fast they are growing!

Husband and Little man also had a blast playing with our new Hot Wheels track.

But then it was back to laundry. :)

While hubby folded I started dinner. FINALLY getting to try some Whole Wheat Whole Grain Lasagna noodles I found a few weeks ago.

I made a new dish I can’t wait to get up on GreenLiteBites, Turkey Spinach Lasagna Roll-ups.

It was sinfully delicious!

Even the husband devoured his plate, although I think he’d rather just plain old pasta. He’s boring like that. :)

After dinner we cleaned up and Little Man did his Highlights Hidden Pictures while I made his lunch. He LOVES these things and so do I. So fun!

We ended up finishing the laundry AND putting it all away. A small miracle in my book.

The kitchen didn’t far as well but hey, you do what you can do.

I’ll finish up cleaning tomorrow. Right now it’s movie time with hubby (we rented Scott Pilgrim vs. the World) and I’m getting a little snack happy. I’m dreaming of cheese which seems to be my current drug of choice for this pregnancy.

Hope you had a wonderful weekend. I’ll be back tomorrow with some fun news and a pregnancy update. Oh! and I have an awesome pizza review this week. Lot’s of fun stuff!

Dear Yum Yucky: Do I Need Lotions and Potions to Make Me Look Younger?

I’m having another conversation with myself. I need to scan my brain cells for the answer. Why was I in Rite Aid pondering the purchase of age defying, trick lotions that cost $40? And then I thought, What the FRACK am I doing?

This is very stooopid.

Ya, I’m getting old(er). I’ll be 40 in less than three years. And ya, I’m noticing skin changes in my face, like a few age spots and fine lines here and there. If you don’t fall into the 30+ category, don’t click away, because once you get there, you’re body is gonna play big jokes that hit you real suddenly, like a face slap.

Hence, my situation right now.

She’s absolutely beautiful.

But I refuse to be in denial. I don’t look like I did when I was 20. And 15 years from now, I won’t look like I do today. But if you and I continue to take care of ourselves, we will STILL be beautiful anyway.

My beauty – and yours – will simply evolve and redefine itself to be beautiful in different ways. I don’t want magic tricks, plastic surgery or a ton of makeup to cover up my aging. I’m more interested in how to keep myself looking great naturally as I age grow in grace.

AGE GRACEFULLY ACTION PLAN

How can you stay vibrant and beautiful without surgery, expensive potions or caking on makeup?

WaterSleepExerciseProper nutritionHealthy relationshipsSpiritual connectionSexy-time (aka, chick-a-bow-wow) …wait! Who wrote that!?

In the absence of one or all of these, I get weirded out real fast. I get drained and moody, and completely off balance – no doubt that contributes to the aging process. There’s lots of scientific evidence to prove what I’m saying. Just Google any one of my action plan items and do some investigative reading for proof.

So this is my action plan and I’m sticking to it.

How do YOU plan to age beautifully without lotions and potions?
