Sensational Sunday-ness

Today started after another amazing night of sleep. Yet again I fell asleep super early and slept through the night. This has been happening since returning from Italy. I think I’m over the whole jet lag thing, but in a weird way the experience has given me “permission” to go to bed early. Like I proved to myself going to sleep early is possible. The world will not end. I’m not missing anything. And I feel darn refreshed the next day. Not to mention, less mindless nighttime munching!

Even after my great night, Little Guy still got up before me.

Notice the clothes. We TRIED to get a head start on the laundry. Too bad we were too lazy to fold the load last night.

One of the first things I do in the morning anymore is make my sun tea. My latest concoction is 3 green tea bags, 2 mint tea bags and a few slices of cucumber.

I let it sit on the counter all day and just pour over ice when I’m thirsty. It’s been a lifesaver since becoming bored with plain old water.

Right on cue, Little Bean woke up. Before going downstairs we played with the Magformers.

20130127_C

These things are AWESOME!

20130127_D

We play with them all the time. Of course this is how it always ends.

20130127_E

Boys.

For breakfast we made waffles and both boys helped.

20130127_F

How cute is that? The have the same exact expression!

20130127_G

Bean was quite excited!

We made a double batch to have leftovers for the week, combining this new recipe and this old one. The boys devoured them but I couldn’t get them on board with my blackberries. :)

After breakfast, clean up with the best little helper ever!

20130127_I

I had a late morning running date on a local trail where I snapped today’s #YogaADay post on a snowy rock.

20130127_J

The things I do in the name of blogging. :)

I came home to this.

20130127_K

The three of them are so stinkin’ cute!

It was lunch time but before we ate I also made dinner.

20130127_L

I’ve been a bit obsessed with the crockpot lately. That’s some turkey sausage, peppers and leftover homemade sauce. Just wait until you see what I add later too!

Lunch was a mishmash of leftovers. I warmed some pork roast from last night’s dinner and topped a salad with it, some cheese and a raspberry vinaigrette.

20130127_M

After lunch a little Wii…

20130127_N

..and a snack before cleaning.

20130127_O

That’s non-fat greek yogurt, banana, cocoa powder and honey. Delish!

Time to clean. The house was. a. mess!

20130127_P

We left Daddy downstairs to fold while we headed upstairs to clean the bathrooms.

20130127_Q

Ryan and I have a system. He cleans “his” bathroom while I clean mine. I must admit, he’s getting pretty good!

Someone woke up from nap right when we finished.

20130127_R

So I bundled him up and we went to the grocery store.

20130127_S

I was so proud of myself for remembering the bags!

20130127_T

I’m trying people. I’m trying. :)

Remember my crockpot sausage and peppers? Well I added some fresh cauliflower about an hour before dinner.

20130127_U

I wanted to up the veggie count for dinner, but I didn’t want them to come out too mushy.

It came out great! At least The Husband and I thought so. The kids? Not so much. We had to have a little dinner battle, but I won. Again. (note: winning is having a few bites of everything on your plate out of respect for the person who made it for you.)

After dinner a little fruit prep…

20130127_V

…and egg prep.

20130127_W

Final clean up resulted in some fun, of course.

20130127_X

and then a quick snack before bed.

20130127_Y

As you can see, I could barely take the photo without 2 grubby hands getting in the way. All three of us REALLY love these Sweet and Salty Dark Chocolate, Peanut Butter nuts. They were on sale so I picked up a few and now I kind of regret it. They are already calling my name from pantry!

After our snack, it was bath, story and bed, for the kids anyway. Right now I’m watching The Mentalist shocked that I’m actually still awake. This is the latest I’ve stayed up in a week!

Today was exactly what I need to set the tone for the week. I’ve really been battling a case of funk-itus.

Hope you had a great weekend!

Post-Party Sunday-ness

It all started with my tough mudder training. I’m proud of myself this week. I had to do a little shifting of the schedule but I completed all workouts except a run that I plan on doing tomorrow. Basically I swapped my Monday rest day for this past Friday to prepare for the party.

I’ll post more details tomorrow but here’s a peak at the stations we set up…

When I got home I made myself a smoothie for breakfast. After yesterday’s food-fest it seemed like a nice light way to start the day.

I used banana, frozen blueberries, spinach, almond milk, cocoa powder and protein powder.

After breakfast I decided a warm bath was in in order.

It was GLORIOUS.

A few laundry bombs to kick start our chores.

Notice Grandpa in the doorway. :)

New birthday toys to play with.

Lunch time!

I made the boys grilled cheeses.

And I made myself a fun wrap using this new yumminess…

Click here to check out my Sweet Cinnamon and Pear Chicken Wrap.

After lunch we were ALL tired.

Baby went down for nap and we decided to relax and watch some golf.

It was my idea. I knew it would knock me right out and it did.

I had the bed head to prove it.

Post-nap we cleaned up, kept the laundry moving and I made The Little Guy lunch for tomorrow.

I’ve been slacking on the lunch box ideas. I think I just needed a week off. I’ll start posting again this week.

Dinner was homemade pizza again.

It’s really the perfect meal for our Sunday night picnics.

We ate, we watched and someone practiced their walking. :)

It was a low key day/night ending with the family putting away laundry, baths and stories.

I really had one of the best weekends ever. I’m going to bed with a big smile on my face ready to tackle another week of craziness!

Sensational Sunday-ness at its Best

Actually this whole weekend ROCKED. Friday night we cleaned the garage, ordered pizza and watched a movie. I know.. nothing spectacular but it really kicked off a fun productive weekend.

Saturday started with my Tough Mudder Training. More on that tomorrow. It was awesome. I also took the Little Guy rock wall climbing. We had a blast. I can see myself REALLY getting into it. Little Guy’s a bit more like his Dad in the scared of heights department but I’m working on building his confidence. He almost made it half way up this trip!

Today started off early with a little reading.

I don’t get sucked into books often but this one’s got me. After I saw the movie I needed to read the books.

We were going to have breakfast but with no eggs in the house we were out of ideas except… an early trip to the grocery store!

Notice the reusable shopping bags. We remembered!

Also notice the soda, *sigh* If it wasn’t for the husband I’d run a soda free house.

My breakfast…

1 egg omelet with ham and red peppers and a whole wheat English muffin on the side.

Then the boys played…

while I put away the groceries…

and framed our new family photos.

In 6 years we went from one 1 year old to one 1 year old and an almost 7 year old. :)

With a little argument I finally got the laundry moving.

Then I made lunch.

We clean the fridge of leftovers. :)

Then goofball…

… and I went to the see the Lorax in 3D.

It was ok. Not my favorite animated flick and I’m a huge Seuss fan. I thought Horton was better.

When we got back The Husband swept Little Guy away to the driving range. Bean and I kept the laundy moving…

… annoyed the cat…

… had snack on a walk…

… and hit the park.

I got one-on-one time with each one of my babies today. How awesome is that!

Dinner was a grill-fest!

Cabbage wedges, turkey burgers and sugar snap peas.

While I cooked the boys played, again. :)

Dinner time!

Dessert time!

The boy who doesn’t like fruit struck again but I’m not giving up that easy. ;)

After dinner it was Return of the Jedi time!

Oh.. and Chocolate time.

I’ve been quite obsessed.

I didn’t run today. I traded my rest day for tomorrow and plan on 7 miles then. I have some more fun running news but it will have to wait until tomorrow. Once Upon a Time.. Mad Men.. It’s time to spend time with my other baby. :)
