Today started after another amazing night of sleep. Yet again I fell asleep super early and slept through the night. This has been happening since returning from Italy. I think I’m over the whole jet lag thing, but in a weird way the experience has given me “permission” to go to bed early. Like I proved to myself going to sleep early is possible. The world will not end. I’m not missing anything. And I feel darn refreshed the next day. Not to mention, less mindless nighttime munching!
Even after my great night, Little Guy still got up before me.
Notice the clothes. We TRIED to get a head start on the laundry. Too bad we were too lazy to fold the load last night.
One of the first things I do in the morning anymore is make my sun tea. My latest concoction is 3 green tea bags, 2 mint tea bags and a few slices of cucumber.
I let it sit on the counter all day and just pour over ice when I’m thirsty. It’s been a lifesaver since becoming bored with plain old water.
Right on cue, Little Bean woke up. Before going downstairs we played with the Magformers.
These things are AWESOME!
We play with them all the time. Of course this is how it always ends.
Boys.
For breakfast we made waffles and both boys helped.
How cute is that? The have the same exact expression!
Bean was quite excited!
We made a double batch to have leftovers for the week, combining this new recipe and this old one. The boys devoured them but I couldn’t get them on board with my blackberries. :)
After breakfast, clean up with the best little helper ever!
I had a late morning running date on a local trail where I snapped today’s #YogaADay post on a snowy rock.
The things I do in the name of blogging. :)
I came home to this.
The three of them are so stinkin’ cute!
It was lunch time but before we ate I also made dinner.
I’ve been a bit obsessed with the crockpot lately. That’s some turkey sausage, peppers and leftover homemade sauce. Just wait until you see what I add later too!
Lunch was a mishmash of leftovers. I warmed some pork roast from last night’s dinner and topped a salad with it, some cheese and a raspberry vinaigrette.
After lunch a little Wii…
..and a snack before cleaning.
That’s non-fat greek yogurt, banana, cocoa powder and honey. Delish!
Time to clean. The house was. a. mess!
We left Daddy downstairs to fold while we headed upstairs to clean the bathrooms.
Ryan and I have a system. He cleans “his” bathroom while I clean mine. I must admit, he’s getting pretty good!
Someone woke up from nap right when we finished.
So I bundled him up and we went to the grocery store.
I was so proud of myself for remembering the bags!
I’m trying people. I’m trying. :)
Remember my crockpot sausage and peppers? Well I added some fresh cauliflower about an hour before dinner.
I wanted to up the veggie count for dinner, but I didn’t want them to come out too mushy.
It came out great! At least The Husband and I thought so. The kids? Not so much. We had to have a little dinner battle, but I won. Again. (note: winning is having a few bites of everything on your plate out of respect for the person who made it for you.)
After dinner a little fruit prep…
…and egg prep.
Final clean up resulted in some fun, of course.
and then a quick snack before bed.
As you can see, I could barely take the photo without 2 grubby hands getting in the way. All three of us REALLY love these Sweet and Salty Dark Chocolate, Peanut Butter nuts. They were on sale so I picked up a few and now I kind of regret it. They are already calling my name from pantry!
After our snack, it was bath, story and bed, for the kids anyway. Right now I’m watching The Mentalist shocked that I’m actually still awake. This is the latest I’ve stayed up in a week!
Today was exactly what I need to set the tone for the week. I’ve really been battling a case of funk-itus.
Hope you had a great weekend!
