January Podcast: Changing Diets, Organics, Snack Attack Advice, Body Image, Finding Time

It’s a new year and I’m setting a new Podcast Schedule! I realize they’ve been few and far between this past year and I’m sorry. Blame the baby. It’s his fault. ;)

My goal for 2012 is one podcast a month. I think it’s realistic and I don’t want to make any promises I can’t keep. That being said the podcasts themselves will be longer. I thought it would be hard to talk that long but apparently I’m a chatterbox. I think you already knew that.

Topics include…

Making the switch from Medifast to Weight WatchersWeight Watchers online, face-to-face or on my own?My take on organic foods, CSA, produce picks. Tips for college student living abroad. Advice for fellow snackers. Body image stuff <- the question that makes me cry. ugh. How did I get started? My motivated and how I find the time.

Links mentioned…

No interest in watching an hour video? Here’s a few other my other recent posts elsewhere….

Newman's Own Organics Pop's Corn Organic Microwave Popcorn (Light Butter Flavored)

Newman's Own Organics Pop's Corn Organic Microwave PopcornPopcorn is my vice. I love it, I have my own popcorn maker and it's a treat I enjoy a few times a week. I like popping my own and adding toppings (like Kernel Season's Caramel Popcorn Seasoning), but every now and then, the convenience of microwave popcorn calls to me. I have some friends who are runners, and they always get the coolest swag bags from the events. One thing they got for this most recent race was a bag of Newman's Own Organics Light Butter Flavored Pop's Corn Organic Microwave Popcorn. Knowing how much I adore popcorn, my friend Karen generously gave me her sample.

NUTRITION FACTS
Serving Size: 30 grams
Calories: 120
Total Fat: 4 grams, 6%
Saturated Fat: 1.5 grams, 8%
Sodium: 170 mg, 7%
Carbohydrates: 19 grams
Fiber: 4 grams, 16%
Sugar: 0 grams
Protein: 3 grams

I popped up a bag and sampled a handful at first. It definitely didn't taste as artificially buttery as Jolly Time 100 Calorie Healthy Pop Popcorn Minis. But of course, there's partially hydrogenated oils in Jolly Time, whereas this popcorn has just Organic Popcorn, Organic Palm Oil, Salt, Natural Butter Flavor [contains milk], Annatto (for color), and Vitamin E (to preserve freshness). And, it was just as delicious. Not only that, but I didn't feel like I liked that it wasn't overly greasy.

Each serving of Newman's Own Organics Light Butter Flavored Pop's Corn Organic Microwave Popcorn (there are 3-3.5 servings per bag) provides 120 calories, 4 grams of total fat, 1.5 grams of which is saturated, 170 mg of sodium (7% of the daily value), 4 grams of fiber, and 3 grams of protein.

This stuff is usually $27.92 for a 12-pack of 3-serving boxes, on par with other microwave popcorn brands. I really enjoyed this and love the better for you ingredients. This will be replacing Jolly Time! Do you have a favorite brand of popcorn?
