Dannon Activia Selects 0% Fat Greek Yogurt (Strawberry) Review

Dannon Activia Selects Non Fat Strawberry Greek Yogurt

When we asked in our poll, How Do You Yogurt, 60% of you responded that Greek yogurt was your thing. I'm more of a low-fat, low-sugar type of girl, but when I saw
Dannon Activia Selects Non Fat Strawberry Greek Yogurt, I decided to try it.

NUTRITION FACTS
Serving Size: 6 ounces
Calories: 190
Total Fat: 0%
Saturated Fat: 0%
Sodium: 140 mg, 6%
Carbohydrates: 34 grams
Fiber: 0%
Sugars: 29 grams
Protein: 12 grams

I loved the texture, which is very thick & creamy as it says on the packaging. It's also rampant with bits of strawberries - it felt like there was some in every bite so I wasn't surprised to see that it's 3rd ingredient. What I also wasn't surprised to see is that sugar is the 4th ingredient, because this is suh-weet - not so sweet that you can't eat it, but it made me curious to see how much sugar is in each serving. Turns out there are 29 grams - which is quite a lot for a 6 ounce serving size - much more sugar in this than in Dannon Strawberry Greek Yogurt (Review), which has 16 grams per 5.3 ounce serving (or 18 grams in 6 ounces).

Each 6 ounce serving of Dannon Activia Selects Non Fat Strawberry Greek Yogurt provides 190 calories, no fat or fiber, 29 grams of sugars as previously mentioned, and 12 grams of protein.

The ingredients in Dannon Activia Selects Non Fat Strawberry Greek Yogurt are cultured grade A non-fat milk, water, strawberries, sugar, fructose, milk protein concentrate; less than 1% of maltodextrin, modified corn starch, modified food starch, natural flavors, carrageenan, carmine and black carrot juice concentrate (for color), sodium citrate, potassium sorbate (to maintain freshness), malic acid, vitamin D3.

There are quite a few strawberry Greek yogurts with less calories and sugars than this, including Oikos Organic Strawberry Greek Yogurt (Review), Chobani 2% All Natural Strawberry Banana Greek Yogurt (Review) and Brown Cow Strawberry on the Bottom All Natural 0% Fat Greek Yogurt (Review).

I paid $1.00 for a 6 ounce container of Dannon Activia Selects Non Fat Strawberry Greek Yogurt, and although it's tasty, I wouldn't buy this again given all the other lower caloric and less sugar options.

Dannon Activia Selects Parfait (Strawberry) Review

Dannon Activia Selects Strawberry Parfait

I usually have plain low-fat (and low sugar) yogurts, but those tend to have artificial sweeteners, and there are times when I give my body a break from that. So while I was out, I decided to check out a few yogurts that are not artificially sweetened, including
Dannon Activia Selects Strawberry Parfait. It's described as, "crunchy granola you can mix into delicious creamy Activia low fat yogurt."

NUTRITION FACTS
Serving Size: 6 ounces
Calories: 220
Total Fat: 3 grams, 5%
Saturated Fat: 1.5 grams, 8%
Sodium: 120 mg, 5%
Carbohydrates: 42 grams
Fiber: 2 grams, 8%
Sugars: 29 grams
Protein: 6 grams

The yogurt was sweet with lots of strawberry pieces throughout. Mixing in the granola adds a nice contrasting texture. While I preferred the taste a bit more than Breyers YoCrunch Blueberry Fruit Parfait (Review), the YoCrunch parfait wins in the nutrition facts department.

Each 6 ounce serving of Dannon Activia Selects Strawberry Parfait provides 220 calories, 3 grams of total fat (5% of the daily value), including 1.5 grams of saturated fat (8% of the DV), 2 grams of fiber (8% of the DV), 6 grams of protein and 29 grams of sugars. The YoCrunch parfait provides 170 calories, 1.5 grams of total fat and 24 grams of sugars.

The ingredients in Dannon Activia Selects Strawberry Parfait are cultured grade A reduced fat milk, strawberries, sugar, fructose, water; modified food starch; less than 1% of milk protein concentrate, modified corn starch, Kosher gelatin, natural flavor, agar agar, carrageenan, carmine (for color), sodium citrate, calcium lactate, lactic acid, xanthan gum. vitamin D3. The granola topping has rolled white wheat flakes, sugar, milled rice, molasses, honey, cinnamon, salt, malt.

I purchased a single 6 ounce serving for $1.00, but would buy the Breyers YoCrunch Blueberry Fruit Parfait (Review) instead as they both cost the same, and although the Dannon parfait is a little more tasty, the YoCrunch one has the edge in the nutrition facts.

Dannon Greek Yogurt (Strawberry) Review

Dannon Strawberry Greek YogurtWe've reviewed a lot of the Dannon Light & Fit Yogurts since they are non-fat and low calorie. Greek yogurts tend to have more protein and are usually all natural - and it seems they are all the rage these days, but I associate companies such as Fage and Chobani with Greek yogurt, not Dannon. So when I saw Dannon Strawberry Greek Yogurt, I decided to give it a try.

NUTRITION FACTS
Serving Size: 5.3 ounces
Calories: 120
Total Fat: 0%
Saturated Fat: 0%
Sodium: 55 mg, 2%
Carbohydrates: 17 grams
Fiber: 0%
Sugars: 16 grams
Protein: 12 grams

Surprise! Dannon's approach towards Greek yogurt is a home run. After a thorough mixing, the strawberry jam-like creation nestled beneath the ultra thick white cloud of yogurt become one and transform into a bounty of beautiful light pink creamy spoonfuls enhanced by bits of strawberries here and there. Yes, they use preservatives, sweeteners and thickeners, but they also deliver an amazingly delicious product and can manage to sell their product for about $1.00; which is less than many other companies, exhibited by the $1.89 cup of Fage.

Each 5.3 ounce cup of Dannon Strawberry Greek Yogurt provides 120 calories, no fat or fiber, 16 grams of sugars and 12 grams of protein. A 4 ounce container of Yoplait Strawberry Greek Yogurt provides 130 calories and 18 grams of sugars with the same 12 grams of protein - so Dannon beats it out handily.

The ingredients in Dannon Strawberry Greek Yogurt are, cultured grade A non-fat milk, strawberries, water, sugar, fructose, contains less than 1% of modified corn starch, natural flavor, carrageenan, black carrot juice concentrate, turmeric and carmine (for color), sodium citrate, potassium sorbate (to maintain freshness), malic acid.

Greek yogurt takes the yogurt experience to a creamy, delicious level that just can't be beat, and it seems to make me more satisfied than other yogurts - could be the protein. Dannon provides a cheaper way to enjoy the full experience, although it's not all natural (nor advertised as such). It is so creamy and perfectly sweetened that it could even serve as a delightfully satisfying dessert.

Dannon Light & Fit Raspberry Yogurt Review

Dannon Light & Fit Raspberry YogurtFrom all the Dannon Light & Fit review we've done, you'd think we were attempting to try all the flavors - and you'd be right! I got my eager little hands on Dannon Light & Fit Raspberry Yogurt and decided to buy it and see how it compared to Dannon Light & Fit Blackberry Yogurt.

Who would have known that the Raspberry would turn out to be one of my absolute favorite Dannon flavors! Sure, it's pretty simple (no exotic name like Yoplait Light Pineapple Upside Down Cake Yogurt or Breyers Light Boost Immunity Black Cherry Jubilee Yogurt), but simple can be messed up, and in this case, they did it perfectly right.

NUTRITION FACTS
Serving Size: 6 ounces
Calories: 80
Total Fat: 0%
Sodium: 75 mg, 3%
Carbohydrates: 16 grams
Fiber: 0%
Sugars: 11 grams
Protein: 5 grams

Whenever I eat Dannon Light & Fit in Raspberry, I honestly feel like I'm eating a dessert. Sure, it might not be quite as thick as the Greek yogurts, but the flavor is so smooth and creamy that I don't care.

Each 6-ounce serving of the yogurt provides 80 calories,no fat, 11 grams of sugar, 5 grams of protein, and daily values of 8% for vitamin A, 15% for calcium, 20% for vitamin D, 20% for riboflavin, and 15% for phosphorus.

The sweeteners used are fructose, acesulfame K, aspartame and sucralose. If you;re not into artificial sweeteners, then this is not the variety for you. Each container of Dannon Light & Fit Raspberry Yogurt cost me 80 cents, and I will continue to buy this in massive quantities. I tend to eat my yogurt just the way it comes for the most part, with no extra goodies - although sometimes I'll toss in a little granola if I have some. What's your favorite topping for yogurt?

Dannon Light & Fit Pineapple Coconut Yogurt Review

Dannon Light & Fit Pineapple Coconut Yogurt

Love Pina Coladas but hate the extra calories and fat? At over 500 calories per cocktail (and possibly a lot more, depending on what size you get), these are a nutritional nightmare. Thankfully, there's a guilt-free substitute for that high-fat, calorie-laden drink: Dannon Light & Fit Pineapple Coconut Yogurt. It might not be an exact substitute for the alcoholic beverage, but it tastes pretty darn good!

NUTRITION FACTS
Serving Size: 6 ounces
Calories: 80
Total Fat: 0%
Saturated Fat: 0%
Sodium: 75 mg, 3%
Carbohydrates: 16 grams
Fiber: 0%
Sugars: 11 grams
Protein: 5 grams

Like all Dannon Light & Fit yogurts (read our reviews), this stuff is a bit on the thinner side compared with other low-fat or fat-free yogurts. However, the taste more than makes up for it with pineapple and coconut flavors that shine but don't overpower. Pineapple is actually one of the ingredients too - so it's not just pineapple flavoring - but coconut is nowhere to be found. I was really amazed at how dessert-like this tasted.

Each 6-ounce container of Dannon Light & Fit Pineapple Coconut Yogurt provides 80 calories, no fat, 16 grams of carbs, 11 grams of sugars, 5 grams of protein, 20% of the RDA for riboflavin and vitamin D, 15% for calcium and phosphorus, and 8% for vitamin A.

The ingredients list starts with nonfat yogurt, water, pineapple and fructose, and the sweeteners used are aspartame, acesulfame K and sucralose - 3 non-natural sugars combined (plus fructose), but the taste is incredibly natural, not to mention delicious.

I bought a 6 ounce container for $1.25, but they are regularly on sale. Dannon Light & Fit Pineapple Coconut Yogurt is definitely a flavor that I would buy again.

Dannon Light & Fit Vanilla Yogurt

Dannon Light & Fit Vanilla YogurtMy favorite Dannon Light & Fit Yogurt flavors so far are Key Lime, Lemon Chiffon and Blackberry. Of course, I'm always on the lookout for varieties I haven't tried before, and when I spotted the Vanilla flavor, I couldn't believe that I hadn't tried this classic. Well, I was about to take care of that situation.

NUTRITION FACTS
Serving Size: 6 ounces
Calories: 80
Total Fat: 0%
Saturated Fat: 0%
Sodium: 75 mg, 3%
Carbohydrates: 16 grams
Fiber: 0%
Sugars: 11 grams
Protein: 5 grams

Unfortunately, the taste of this didn't thrill me. Sure, the flavor was un-mistakenly vanilla, but it also tasted artificial and sweet. The consistency was very fluid, not thick, and it was more like melted, milk-ified candy, and I didn't like that.

Each 6 ounce cup of Dannon Light & Fit Vanilla Yogurt provides 80 calories, no fat or fiber, 11 grams of sugars, 5 grams of protein and 20% of the daily value for vitamin D and riboflavin along with 15% of the DV for calcium and phosphorus.

The ingredients include the sweeteners fructose, aspartame, acesulfame K and sucralose. I paid $0.75 for a 6 ounce cup of this Dannon Light & Fit Vanilla Yogurt, but I probably wouldn't buy it again. This definitely is not one of my favorite flavors in the Dannon Light & Fit line - although it's better than the Yoplait Fiber One Vanilla Yogurt.
