Let’s chat! (Egg Beaters 100% egg whites giveaway).

OK, Protein-People.

Get out your calendars.

Grab your FiloFax (anyone? Im all about the technology. I love my Google calendar. I still pine for the FiloFax days…)

I come bearing information, freebie-foreshadowing,  and a recipe.

Tomorrow.

February 16th.  (11 am CENTRAL/Noon EASTERN/9a PACIFIC)

Im hosting a Twitter chat: Easy Changes for Heart Health Month.

Never participated in a Twitter chat?

Here’s all you need to know about tomorrow and chats in general:

Tweetchat is your friend.  Go to Tweetchat, enter the hashtag EBwhites at the top and you’re in!  TIP: you can do this any time to follow the #EBwhites hashtag not only during the chat. It’s a H.I.I.T. chat.  What I mean by that is we’re going fast & furious for thirty minutes.  Join us during breakfast if youre on the west coast!  Pop in for a lunchbreak if you’re in the central/eastern timezones.  Ive structured a fast paced, fun, *energizing* chat so we all leave after 30 READY to wrangle our day.Completely baffled by all things TWITTER?  No worries.  Here’s your cheat-sheet. Youve got plenty of time to get up to speed by tomorrow. We will all get a chance to HANG OUT in real time and not in blog comments. It will be like a 30 minute mini-chatty FITBLOGGIN12.  COME! COME!

Now if youre anything like I am, whether it’s 9a your time or noon, it’s snacktime.

If all looks pretty (read: there’s a reason Im not a food blogger.  My food *tastes* yummy & looks messy.) I shall share pics during the chat as here’s what I will be eating while I tweet:

Egg Beaters 100% Egg Whites Protein Pancake (A MizFit concoction):

1 cup Egg Beaters 100% egg whites

1/4 cup cottage cheese

1/2 cup dry oatmeal

1/3 cup protein powder (ANY BRAND. Read the label. You can use FLAVORED I choose not to because of unnecessary sugars.)

A smattering of frozen/fresh fruit (or honey. or agave. you get the THIS IS TO SWEETEN idea)

Blend the above concoction in a blender and make like traditional pancakes.

Eat sans-syrup rolled up while you tweet.

Now you.

Baffled by my ability to blend such few ingredients and make a pancake?

Willing to buy me a purple FiloFax even if I only carry it in an homage to the 80's?

Confused at all by the world of twitter chats?

You know what to do…

**cue confetti shaped like Egg Beaters Whites**

I know Ren Man would readily agree he cares not about my brand partnerships.

If Im happy—he’s happy.

He puts up with my nonstop yammering loves to hear about them, but that’s about where it ends.  He rarely voices an opinion.

Except for this time.

When I shared with him I was partnering with Egg Beaters Whites he pretty much lost his mind.

And immediately asked if they’d consider paying me in product.

You see, this photo was *not* staged for the sake of the brand:

Neither was this photo where the child identified my favorite food as Egg Beaters for a school project (upper right corner):

I love my Beaters in every way shape & form I can get them.

Love. Love.

I also know we’ve established you (the royal) arent always lovers of the vlogs.

I ask you to indulge me & make 77 seconds for the snippet below.

If you *dont* giggle in the first 3 seconds you have my permission to click away.

Please to enjoy (& sing along if you know the words).

Now you.

Are you, too, a fan of all things Egg Beaters?
Are you perched on the edge of your office chair seat in excitement at the very thought of my testing recipes for you?
Will you be singing “MizFit loves Egg Beaters!” all day now as I will?

This post is sponsored by the amazing Egg Beaters Whites.  The unabashed LOVE is all my own.

Who’s More-Fatter in America? Blacks, Whites or Hispanics?

Do not be alarmed. My “more-fatter” question is not an attempt to invoke racial factions or pointed fingers based on your level of skin pigmentation. [insert disclaimer here that my own Grandma is white, so I'm not trying to cause a racialized uproar.]

I’m asking because I noticed something among my own race of peoples. There’s a lot of overweight blacks walking around. Waaaay too many. I’m tired of seeing it, actually. They’re comfortable and confident in their skin (which is great), but typically have no plans to change their obese ways (not so great).

So I wondered… what is the percentage of overweight blacks in America compared to other races?

I went to the Centers for Disease Control website (www.cdc.gov) to retrieve the data on Obesity Trends. It proved to be a breached-levy of information, because of the overwhelming amount of data on the subject. But here we have it in a nutshell:

(source: cdc.gov)

First of all, I’m bummed they only broke down the nation into three categories: Blacks, Whites and Hispanics. What about the Asian peoples of America and the Middle Eastern peeps who dwell here? But I gotta admit, they do tend to stay on the slim side.

So what’s the deal with obese blacks and Hispanics? I’m making my own guess. This is why they’re fatter?

Food culture: Many Blacks and Hispanics are deeply rooted in their food cultures, which are many times high in fat.Economics: Slice and dice it anyway you want, but Blacks and Hispanics generally fall into the lower tax brackets. Healthy, quality foods cost more, and most times aren’t in the budget.Education: The economic factor plays a big part in education. The less education a person has received, the less opportunities there will be for earning a bigtime paycheck. Many who have less financial resources aren’t spending a lot of time researching organic foods and counting calories, ya know? They’re living paycheck to paycheck just trying to make it everyday.

If you’re up for a head-spinning good time, complete with crossed eyes and a migraine from reading big blocks of paragraphs with stats galore and a chart to bring it on home, you can read this long azz report from the CDC: Differences in Prevalence of Obesity Among Black, White and Hispanic Adults – US 2006-2008.

Regardless of your race, the obesity industry is on the rise (yes, it’s an industry – because people make money off of other people being fat). First, take care of you. Then, address obesity among your immediate family members to stop the cycle of fatness, no matter what race you are.

This thing is outta control.
