Get Your Hoe Ready

My hoe is always ready.

The only thing right about the time change is the clock in my Jeep. I do not know how to change it.

I understand there is a manual for operating the equipment in my car, but getting it out, looking up the information and performing the steps necessary seem like too much. The last time I looked at the manual was to eject a CD. For two years, I had a Diana Krall Christmas CD in there. I like Diana Krall, but eventually one feels depressed and sleepy after listening to the same CD for two years. The musical question, “What are you doing New Year’s Eve?” is not one I want to answer in July. So I was finally motivated enough to…  continue reading.

Ready? Set? Pre-order!

(Why YES. I *am* clickable!)

Oh, People.

I exaggerated not when I said, on Friday, I view you all as my strangerfriends.

People I might not recognize were we to pass on the street—but upon whom I lean (daily) & look forward to interacting with (daily) & am eager to share everything with (the good, the bad & the tattoo’y).

And, since today kindasorta feels like the birth of a child (albeit a paper, exercise’y, never needs to be potty-trained child), I wanted to share it with you.

Ive been hinting at my partnership with My Trainer Fitness for a while.

I connected with them on twitter and was blown away not only by their brand (I like to think I work hard. These women make me look like Slacker McGee) but also by their  workout cards.

Get the benefits of a personal trainer without the cost…your personal trainer to go!

I slowed my one-on-one training and segued more to fitness writing for that very reason:

I felt I was able to help more people through a platform such as MizFit as opposed to one-on-one sessions.

Combining our efforts & talents and producing workout-to-go cards was the perfect next step and Im ever grateful My Trainer Fitness thought the same.

We’ve partnered for two ventures.

A 100 calorie 6-pack (six workouts designed to facilitate a 100+ calorie burn with each 20 minute or less workout). At Work 6-pack workout (six ‘office’ workouts you can do all at once or in snippets throughout the day without having to change into fitness attire).**

Today.

Finally.

And with no small thanks to photographer extraordinaire Kristina Kennedy we are done and ready for pre-orders.

And Im so excited.

In celebration of that misfit’xcitement now through April 30th when you buy any My Trainer Fitness 6-pack you get one for free.

Any 6-pack not just my two.

All you need to do is in the “How you heard about us” window at checkout enter Mizfitonline AND name your 6-pack gift of choice.

**cue confetti shaped like 6-packs & THANKS for celebrating with me**

**by way of clarification the images above are from the 100 calorie pack. I created the cards but am not the model in the At Work 6-pack.

Are You Ready? (Rewind)

Weekly QuestionI’m rewinding again for the return of my Question of the Week Series. I’ve been digging in the archives to find questions I thought really represented my thought behind series. I honestly didn’t remember writing this one until I read it. But once I did, it brought back a lot memories. Making the commitment to live a healthier life isn’t always easy. You have to honestly look at what it’s going to take and ask yourself if you really are ready.

Originally posted April 8, 2008…

I might catch some slack for this weeks question(s) but I don’t care. I need to ask not only you but also myself.

It’s a simple yet complex question,  “Are you ready?”

Are you ready to live a healthier lifestyle? Are you ready to make the harder choices that lifestyle may entail? Are you ready to plan, think, prepare, shop, and not just grab a donut on the way to work? Are you ready to shut off the TV and go outside for a walk? Are you ready to seek out the staircase instead of taking the elevator? Are you ready to admit to yourself you eat too much? Are you ready to tell yourself hunger is not an emergency or an excuse? Are you ready to face your feelings instead of shoving them down with a slice of pizza? Are you ready to stop trying to do it all and get more sleep? Are you ready to try new foods you’ve dismissed because you “don’t eat vegetables”?Are you ready to love yourself NOW, unconditionally? Are you ready to be the example, the motivator, the exception to the rule?

I really could go on and on.  My point with this question is to get us thinking, really thinking about what it takes lose weight and keep it off. It’s not easy for everyone. Everything seems to be working against us. It’s easier to take the elevator then the stairs. It’s easier to say yes to the daily office danish then pack your own snack. It’s easier to run through a drive through then go home and cook dinner. I’m not saying you can never do the easy things again, but overall you have to make the harder choices. You have to be READY to make the harder choices.

So I ask…

Are you Ready?

And if so…

What are you ready to do?

P.S .I came up with this question this morning in the shower. Today there were at least 3 “hard” choices I had to make where I asked myself this question. It helped immensely and got me running on the treadmill, skipping the cookie at work, and deciding to make dinner instead of taking the toddler to Wendy’s. That’s why I decided to ask tonight.

Add on: I just asked myself again and avoided that before bed snack I’ve been getting used to. I am ready. :~)

Since this is a repost, there are comments on the original. Click here to go back and take a look. Many people answered honestly and I hope you do too

Is Being Ready Enough? Someone Needs Your Advice

I love getting email from Lynn’s Weigh readers. I really do. And I try to answer it as best I can and in a timely manner. But this week I have so much on my plate – out of the ordinary things that are consuming my thoughts – and I wouldn’t be able to answer the following email in a thoughtful way.

So I need your help. Can you, particularly the veteran weight-loss folks, answer this email I received today from Stacey? When I get a chance I’ll refer her to what I’ve written in the past, but I know we each have our individual answer to the questions she poses.

Variety being the spice of life, your answer may be just what Stacey needs to hear to get her on the path of permanent weight loss.

Here’s her email:

“I am looking for advice. How did you stick with it at first? I have a very hard time getting motivated to do it. I know it is pure laziness on my part. I loved WW in the past when I have tried it. When seeing results I get excited and all that but as soon as I fall off the wagon or have a bad day it is all over and I'm back to square one.

I am 36 and at 290. I am so ready for a life change. Any help you can give would be wonderful.”

Leave a comment or send me an email to lynnbering@verizon.net and I’ll be sure to forward it to Stacey. Thanks a ton, you guys.

A quick update on Mathilda. She’s not doing well. Her back legs just aren’t working. We may need to put her down this week. The only saving grace is that we got that second chance, that extra time to spend with her. And we’ve been savoring every moment.

Thank you again for all your kind comments and well wishes. I know so many of you have been down this road before. It’s never easy.
