Wednesday Weigh In: The Daily Cycle

I’m actually writing this portion of the Wednesday Weigh in post on Tuesday because I have some thoughts swimming in my head and I know I’ll lose them tomorrow morning when try I to post really quick before the gym.

Normally I’m an “on the fly” blogger so this feels weird.

Anyway, I’ve been struggling a little. I’m getting caught up in that daily cycle of starting each day off awesomely and then just having it all fall apart by bed time.

I’ll use yesterday as an example.

I made my new smoothie for a quick breakfast after the gym, then pulled together a HUGE cabbage taco salad using leftover taco meat and a half a head of cabbage. It was amazing! As a snack I whipped up a fun daily yogurt using my newest obsession.

Dinner was fish sticks, snow peas, and an experimental quinoa dish that I may end up sharing on GreenLiteBites if I can remember how I made it — I know, weird combo, but fish sticks are a family favorite and quinoa is always hit or miss so it’s my compromise.

Anyway, great day overall and I felt fantastic!

I also felt a little hungry, so I had some Laughing Cow, cucumber and dried cranberries — a favorite of mine.

Then Ryan wanted ice cream, so I had some too. Then The Husband came home from tennis and had Doritos and so did I. Then we had chocolate from the 2-year-old’s day-care fund-raiser. Then I finally said, “UGH, I’m GOING TO BED.” Something I should have 2 done hours earlier.

This has been my pattern every day for the last week.

I’m not beating myself up about it, just honestly expressing the state I’m currently in.

After 8 years of maintaining I can honestly tell you this isn’t the first and it won’t be the last time this type of old habit resurfaces.

I think one of the reasons I’ve been able to maintain for as long as I have is my ability to recognize the pattern and change my approach without letting any type of guilty feelings send me into a tailspin.

OK, just wanted to get that out before I saw the number tomorrow morning. I’m expecting a slight gain with my nighttime eating. Especially the chocolate. Ohh there’s been a LOT of chocolate.

Part of me doesn’t want to even bother getting on the scale tomorrow but I want to be accountable. It is what it is. There’s no walking away. I’m in this for the long haul.

*******

Well good morning everyone! I hopped on the scale and it showed me exactly what I expected.

20130515_weighin

I’m pretty numb to it, to be honest. I still feel amazing! CrossFit kicks my butt every morning during the week and I love it. I feel like I’m getting stronger every day. I haven’t been able to get back to my hot yoga class, just too busy, but as soon as my schedule opens up a bit I’ll be sneak a session in.

In the food department I making good decisions overall. Frankly my issue is more with bed time than anything else. I’m like a child who doesn’t want to be told they need their sleep.

My plan for this week is to put ZERO pressure on myself because I think that’s what triggers the daily cycle. I’m not even going to keep a food journal. My goal is to trust my instincts and go to bed early even if it means missing Nashville with The Husband tonight. (Totally our guilty pleasure. That Juliette is a hot mess! lol)

I hope you had a great week. Looking forward to your updates and sorry for the novel!

Back to the Daily Grind, Sorta.

I’ve been in overdrive since yesterday.

Recently, a soon to be mom asked me what is so time consuming about having kids and I honestly didn’t know how to answer. They just are! I feel like every moment of every day is spoken for and it’s exhausting!

But I wouldn’t have it any other way. :)

That being said today was fairly productive.

It all started with my favorite breakfast.

I really missed my morning eggs!

After breakfast I caught up on some work. I have a sitter come in on Tuesday and Thursday so I can devote some undivided attention to work. This morning I was in FitBloggin’ follow up overdrive. I spend 3 hours simply sending and replying to emails. wow.

I really didn’t have time for lunch as I also had a few errands to run. I grabbed a svelte.

They sent me samples to try and I must admit… not bad! I was expecting a slim fast taste but they are creamier with a nice sweetness. I’ve tried the chocolate, vanilla and now the Spiced Chia which I didn’t think I’d like but it ended up to be my favorite. Totally reminded me of a gingerbread cookie!

Notice the husband in the background. He was running out the of the shot because of his hair. He’s turning into the Alien guy…

and is begging me to give him a hair cut. lol

Ahhh I love internet memes.

Anyway, I heated up lunch for the kids while they played on LEGO.com.

A couple of hours later I was hungry so I made a Greek Yogurt Parfait minus the Parfait. ;)

Irish wasn’t amused by my little joke either.

Before I knew it, my best friend and Godson came to visit. They were stopping by for dinner on their way to a Orioles game.

How cute is that picture? They are 12 years apart. TWELVE! Creepy in a holy-crap-I’m-OLD kind of way.

We went to a local pub. I had a cup of Maryland crab soup and this…

That’s tuna, veggies and sweet potato fries.

Afterwards we headed to Barnes and Noble. Someone’s at the prime train table age.

That same someone is also almost walking!

Before we left. Cold Stone. I had chocolate yogurt and peanut butter with a couple of reese’s.

Let’s call that a craving. :)

It was a great day! I was productive at work, spent time with my boys, and caught up with an old friend. Now all I have to do is clean the house. lol

Oh! I spent some time pinning fun summer recipes too. I even made a burger only board all while munching on my frozen grapes. :)

MAN do I love frozen grapes! I shall be stocking up when they are on sale.
This is NOT a sponsored post. svelte send me samples to evaluate. I was not compensated in any other way. All opinions expressed are my own.

Guest Post: Danicas Daily

I’m happy to share another maternity leave guest post. I asked Danicas to share her thoughts on the New Weight Watchers plan as I know many (myself included) have had our doubts. Just read the comments on these two posts…

As I’m smack dab in the middle of week one on the new Weight Watchers plan, my opinion hasn’t changed much yet. I’m giving pointsplus a shot and so far it’s been pretty similar to the old plan except for the fact that I feel it’s a bit more labor intensive. Points are harder to calculate. Well, not harder but just not intuitive. I know many like the more points aspect but most of my meals are more points too so it all seems to work out pretty similarly.

Anyway, I’m not going to open up this can of worms now. Instead I thought it would be nice to hear from someone who has completely embraced the new plan. So without further ado, here’s Danica!

Hi all the Roni Fan’s out there. I am honored to be guest posting for Roni, one of my FAVORITE Friends in Weight Loss as she is spending time with her new Little Bean. Roni was actually inspiring me on my original journey and I am pretty sure she didn’t even know it. Smile

My name is Danica and you can find me over at Danica’s Daily sharing my random adventures on my journey to be healthy. You all may be able to tell by my site that I am an avid believer in Weight Watchers. I can honestly say that I have been a lifetime member of Weight Watchers without ever reaching “Lifetime”.

I have tried just about every diet plan out there as well as every Weight Watcher’s plan, (remember when they made you eat LIVER!) Danica’s Daily is about my journey to maintain the weight I lost and to continue towards reaching my ultimate weight loss “Lifetime” Goals. I have really been there and done that, I know how easy it is to gain some, all or a part of your weight back, 5 lbs at a time as well as to lose that same “5 lbs” over and over again.

The ONE CONSTANT in my weight loss journey is that I LOVE Weight Watchers and whole heartedly believe in every iteration of the program that they have created. I do not work for Weight Watchers, but, I have been a Weight Watcher for over 20 years. I know that there are people who believe in Points+ and others who are still not to sure about it.

In addition to sharing my Daily Eats, Roni asked me to share all of my thoughts on the new Points Plus program with you all. I could go on for days about why I LOVE the new program, but, lucky for you all I already did a few writes up on it Open-mouthed smile

This POST actually explains all the changes from the old Momentum Plan and the new Points+ Plans…..no opinions, just what is different between the plans.

In this article, I explain why I LOVE the new Points+ Program.

I have TWO tips that I think are KEY to making the new points+ program work for you…Just remember that there is no one size fits all program that everyone loses weight on…each person is different and you honestly have to find what works best for you. I have had the MOST SUCCESS on Points+ when I follow these Two things:

1. LISTEN TO YOUR BODY Each person is different so you will have to find what works best for you, but, I do think you should not eat or force yourself to eat if you are not hungry. If you have extra points+ left at the end of the day and feel the need to use them, enjoy a “treat” or some higher point items like nuts, cheese, etc. If you feel like you are not hungry and do not need your points, then, I definitely say do not eat them just because they are there. Listen to your body, your hunger signals, work on getting in your good health guidelines, water, measuring and track every single bite.

2. FREE FRUTIS & VEGGIES ~ I do believe that the new fruits/veggies being free are meant as a way to help people make better choices, i.e. to have a banana over say a 100 calorie granola bar for snack. I do not think that people will have as much success if they eat a bunch of fruit on top of what they already eat because the calories will add up. If you are one of the lucky few who can get away with it ~ enjoy it!

I do plan on doing a full write up on suggestions I have for making the Points+ Program work for you, but, I will save Roni from having me take up too much space on her site.

Now, let’s get onto the FOOD because today was one delicious day! I started my day off with one of the EASIEST Oatmeal Protein Pancakes you will ever make, especially if you have a Magic Bullet.

IMG_9015

Click HERE for the Recipe ~ Topped with 1/2 a banana, 1 tsp of Whipped Butter, 1 Tbsp Pure Maple Syrup and a sprinkle of Organic Unsweetened Coconut Flakes (10 Points+)

IMG_9022

My breakfast kept me full for 5 hours! That is why I LOVE that pancake ~ it feels like a treat, but, it sticks with you all morning long.

I have been wanting to make these Bacon Stuffed Portabella Pizzas ever since I saw them posted. Click HERE for the recipe.

I clean my mushrooms by using a pastry brush to brush the dirt off. I find it is a lot easier than using a towel.

IMG_9025

Preheat your oven to 400 degrees while you prep the ingredients.

I sautéed the mushroom stems with 1 clove of garlic and 1 tsp olive oil.

IMG_9026

Wilted in 2 big handfuls of spinach.

IMG_9029

Plus 2 Tbsp roughly chopped basil and a big pinch of crushed red pepper flakes.

IMG_9030

Build your pizzas! Start with the mushrooms.

IMG_9034

Divide the spinach mixture between the two portabellas.

IMG_9036

Crumble one slice of bacon on each half. You see I already LOVED this recipe just for that ~ crumbling it allowed me to eat a few pieces as I made my pizza and have it all still count in the pizza points+. Sprinkle with a little balsamic vinegar.

IMG_9038

I added a 1/2 Tbsp parmesan to each half (increasing the points+ value of the entire recipe by 1).

IMG_9046

Top with 1/2 ounce thinly sliced reduced fat Mozzarella and bake for 12 minutes.

IMG_9051

DIG IN! You get TWO HUGE Pizzas for 5 Points+. The bacon definitely makes this dish decadent. If mushrooms are not your thin, you can use a Flat Out Wrap and make a Flat Out Amazing Pizza for just a few extra points+.

IMG_9063

Dessert was a bowl of Watermelon…..Can I just say summer is probably going to make me LOVE Points+ even more?!

IMG_9054

After work I hopped on the treadmill and got in a fantastic 30 minute Run/Walk. I pushed myself every 30 seconds increasing the speeds.

I was starving after working and decided to have a quick snack to hold me over so I didn’t eat the entire house while I cooked dinner.

LEMON MERINGUE PIE!

IMG_9076

I could honestly eat this EVERY DAY ~ it’s THAT good.

1/2 cup Trader Joe’s 0% Greek Yogurt (1 points+)

2 Tsp Trader Joe’s Lemon Curd (2 points+) – it tastes just like the inside of a lemon pie!

1/2 a Low-Fat Cinnamon Graham Cracker crumbled (1 points+)

Un-pictured ~ the other half of my banana.

Dinner actually went together pretty quickly with the help of The Husband. He is fun to cook with because he gets all “Iron Chef” like and animating as he cooks.

We made up what I am going to call “That’s a Chicken Rollatini” ~ Said with my BEST Italian accent, um, if I have one of those Winking smile The Husband is Italian – does that count?!

IMG_9122

The chicken is stuffed and rolled with sun-dried tomatoes, spinach, mozzarella, Italian Seasoning, Sea Salt and Black Pepper. Served over a Vegged Out Buttery Chive Egg Noodles. 10 points+ for the entire bowl! Click HERE for the recipe.

IMG_9132

Thanks again for Roni for letting me entertain your readers with my daily rambling. You can check out my recipes, other food antics, travels and daily adventures over at Danica’s Daily.

Have a great night all!

Obese women undergo weight loss surgery in Korea | Otago Daily ...

Two women, who have fought for better access to weight loss surgery, are back in New Zealand after undergoing surgery in Korea despite warnings from doctors here the procedures could have killed them.

Lynda Sim, 44, and Jasmin Sciascia, 26, were denied bariatric surgery -- which reduces the stomach's size -- in New Zealand because they lived in District Health Board (DHB) areas -- Wellington and Whanganui- which did not fund the surgery which costs up $35,000.

In December, last year the South Korean government approached both women, offering to pay for them to have the weight loss surgery in there.

The women who were morbidly obese -- Ms Sciascia weighed about 200kg and Mrs Sim about 160kg -- decided to take up the offer despite warnings from doctors that the flights over there could pose a health risk, and went under the knife in Soochunhyang University Hospital in Seoul on February 23.

Both operations were successful and the pair were expected to lose a dramatic amount of weight with some patients losing up to half their weight within months following the surgery.

Ms Sim said told The Dominion Post newspaper she was very grateful to the Korean government for the surgery which gave her a chance to look "normal" after being embarrassed about the way she looked all her life.

She said she looked forward to being able to do the simple things such as walking to her own mailbox, in the Wellington suburb of Karori, without the help of a wheelchair.

Before the pair left for surgery Wanganui surgeon Clive Solomon, who had advocated for both woman to receive the surgery in New Zealand, said it was "bloody madness" that the woman were flying to Korea for the operations.

The women risked dying either on the operating table or on the flight over, he said.

Kirstie Alley's Big Life: The Real Weight Loss Sequel

Edit Article |

|

Cheers TV fans! Kirstie Alley is back. Get ready for many more images of her weight loss in full living color. Kirstie Alley is returning to TV for real Well, for a reality TV series anyway. And this time again she seems larger than life, since countless weight loss photos show her personal weight is far north of 200 pounds.

"Kirstie Alley's Big Life" is the new Sunday night series starting March 21st on A & E. I've been shown the trailer for the series. As a longtime television professional, I feel quite safe in reporting the content of "Kirstie Alley's Big Life" looks rather 'interesting' to say the very least.

Now at 59, the two-time Emmy Award winning actress hopes the series will help her to regain popularity. However she, therefore, hopes to lose weight again as part of the show's storyline. Kirstie reveals, "You're going to see me lose weight in the show. We always see the before and after weight loss photos between, but we never see in the. The loss of weight in between photos is really the meat and potatoes. Pardon the pun. "

The cast for the series includes Kirstie Alley, but here, True, and her daughter, Lillie (both are from Kirstie's former marriage to ex-Hardy Boy Parker Stevenson). Then there's Ms. Alley's two young assistants, Kelly and Kyle, as well as her friend Jim, whom she labels her "Chubby Buddy." As if that's not a wide enough unpredictable characters, Kirstie Alley therefore owns 25 animals, some of them wild . Viewers will then catch wild moments involving paparazzi and more.

I'm old enough to remember how many guys like me across America thought Kirstie Alley was sexy during her appearing on the hit TV show, "Cheers" 20 years ago. Unfortunately today, the physique of the 5-foot-8 actress looks more like the character Cheers, "Norm." She is considered obese, reportedly weighing in somewhere in the neighborhood of 230 pounds.

Kirstie Alley's weight loss gained nationwide attention as the spokesperson for Jenny Craig a couple of years ago when she lost 75 pounds on the program. But when that business relationship was severed in 2008, Kirstie regained all of the weight she lost … and some.

Do you wonder if the paparazzi will be as motivated to capture Kirstie Alley weight loss images as they were snapping photos after her huge weight gain. For now, the actress Kirstie Alley and the woman is a big target and she knows it.

She Confirms the title of her new TV show Stating bluntly, "I have a big life. I've had all these reincarnations in one lifetime. "She is right. I just hope for her sake, she succeeds in this next incarnation as an actress. More importantly, I also hope Kirstie Alley returns in this next life as a highly visible real weight loss success story.

Millions of men and women who might watch her series are themselves busy with their own up and down battles with personal weight loss goals. Another big-time win by Kirstie Alley weight loss would surely inspire many to see the before and after weight loss photos of their dreams come true once and for ave
