Good Earth Cocoa Tango Black Tea Review

Good Earth Cocoa Tango Black Tea

After the folks at Good Earth saw how much I loved the Good Earth Chai Tea (Review), they sent me a few samples, which led me to quite an obsession with Good Earth Cocoa Tango Black Tea. On the label, it says, "Cocoa Tango is the romance that was meant to be. The sweet, sensually smooth flavor of cocoa enveloped the unpredictably fiery hit of chili pepper."

My brother drinks black tea with nothing added to it - no sugar, no cream, no nothing! That's just not something I thought I could ever do - until now! Until, Good Earth Cocoa Tango Black Tea. You could have knocked me out the moment I found out how wonderful this tea is all on it's own. I use a little less than 8 ounces of water with one teabag, and the ensuing light cocoa flavor is warm, welcoming and enveloping. That little kick from the chili peppers is the pièce de résistance!

The ingredients are actually black tea, cocoa, natural flavors, roasted chicory rot, chili peppers, cardamon, rose petals, peppermint leaves and monk fruit extract. If you haven't tried this tea yet - GO GET IT! As I mentioned before, I received samples of Good Earth Cocoa Tango Black Tea from the company, but I saw it in the stores for $2.29 - and of course, I bought it because my supply is already running low.

Do you have to add something (milk or sugar) to your tea (or coffee)?

Wednesday Weigh In and My Nightly Cup of Hot Cocoa

I only have a minute tonight. Tomorrow is an early morning workout day but I couldn’t go to bed without sharing…

1. My Weigh in

weigh in

I was shocked to see the 150. Lowest since getting pregnant. Only 5 pounds to go to pre-pregnancy weight and I’m not even that concerned about getting there anymore. Apparently NOT dieting works for me now. There’s that A-Ha moment again!

2. My Hot Cocoa Obsession

Melissa asked about my cocoa in yesterday’s post and I must confess this is a new habit I’m obsessed with at the moment. I make a cup of regular Swiss Miss cocoa in the Keurig. It’s 70 calories, I think. I then add 1 tbsp of dark cocoa powder making it rich and indulgent.

Sometimes it’s the little things right? I’m off to make it now and then head to bed. It helps as I watch The Husband down his nightly bag of chips. *eye roll*

In other news…

Hershey's Special Dark Cocoa Powder

Hershey's Special Dark Cocoa PowderLooking to satisfy a dark chocolate craving? Look no further than Hershey's Special Dark Cocoa Powder. Sure, I'm a huge (HUGE) fan of Ghirardelli Natural Unsweetened Cocoa Powder, but it doesn't quite satisfy my craving for the rich, antioxidant-packed dark chocolate taste. I have tried loading up my foods with the Ghirardelli variety, but I still can't quite get the same richness that comes with dark chocolate. That's why I was so excited when I found Hershey's Special Dark.

NUTRITION FACTS
Serving Size: 1 tbsp
Calories: 20
Total Fat: 0.5 grams, 1%
Saturated Fat: 0%
Sodium: 65 mg, 3%
Carbohydrates: 3 grams
Fiber: 2 grams, 8%
Sugar: 0 grams
Protein: 1 gram

I added some to my oatmeal and found that it was transformed into the richest, fudgiest chocolate dessert ever. yum Yum! Delicious, rich, dark, and everything cocoa powder should be. What I like about using cocoa is I can scale up the chocolate factor while keeping calories in check by using Splenda or another sweetener; I can also adjust the level of sweetness to my liking.

Each tablespoon of Hershey's Special Dark Cocoa Powder provides just 10 calories, 0.5 grams of total fat, no sugars, 2 grams of fiber, 1 gram of protein, and 10% of the daily value for iron. I did not expect to see any fiber in the nutrition facts (but I'm sure glad it's there). The ingredients are, Cocoa and Cocoa Processed With Alkali.

An 8-ounce container of Hershey's Special Dark Cocoa Powder cost me $3.99, but you can also purchase six 8-ounce cans for $18.99 at Amazon.com. Yes - 6 containers could last a very long time!

I love this stuff. It's my new favorite cocoa find, and I will continue to experiment by adding it to different recipes.
