So now that the half-naked Yoga movement has been established, what other parts of the body can we strip down to nakedness for the sake of good fitness?
Emm-no. I’m not asking us to get naked together…hell naw! I’ve already did enough nakedness in the presence of another to last a lifetime. Why do you think I have four damn kids? …ummm, I’m getting off topic.
But do not fear! I am NOT talking about butt cracks and man-junk swinging and on display for all the world. Good gawd, keep your shorts on while you read this. I’m talking about your feet (hopefully they are non-crusty?).
As if you jumped out the belly of the womb wearing Asics? The human-body manual doesn’t call for a “Shoes & Socks Add-on App” for our feet to do the exercising. Now, I’m not forcing you to do things my way, but allow me to explain….
The “let me explain” Part
I have been exercising (at home) with my feet naked for almost 4 years now. Before then, all of my indoor cardio and weight training with shoes would make my ankles twist and/or my knees hurt. There’s just something about exercising with sneakers on a carpet that does not mix well with me. There’s also that whole barefoot running movement, but I’m not running my azz nowhere right now.
So I yanked off my shoes and socks while neverminding all that science behind foot support and cushioning and sh!t. To this day, even while doing the intense-est cardio ever, I have never had another ankle tweak or injury. As for my knees. There are, of course certain exercises that can bother that part of the body, but knees-twisting due to having on my sneakers is no longer an issue.
I don’t think about foot-form or worry about cracking my ankles anymore. I just go at my workouts – even hardcore plyometics – with no shoes on and no pain.
Naked is just better for me.
I appreciate my body for what it can perform in its most natural, organic state without accessories added on (like shoes). So what about YOU? Have you tried naked-feet exercising? Have you struggled with sneakers while exercising on a carpet?
