Seeing the world through the Tornado’s eyes.

Her feet are catching up to mine!

Ive always said (to Ren Man, to friends, to *anyone* who would listen) all that matters to me is the kind of person the Tornado grows up to be.

I dont care how much money she makes.

I dont care what profession she chooses.

I dont care if she gets married or has children or any of the’ traditional’ stuffs.

I care she learns and truly grasps the notion life is as simple as do unto others.

I care she learns & hones the ability to put herself in the place of the other and employ empathy.

It was only after I became a mother I learned in order to teach these concepts to her I needed to *stop* & view the world through her eyes first.

Im taking about this over at the FILA blog today.

Ive taught Sunday School.

Ive taught swimming.

Ive been a trainer.

I am a mother.

The one thing all my ‘teaching’ endeavors have in common is the fact none of them “clicked” or fell into place until I *stopped* and considered how each of my students (or the Tornado) viewed his or her world.

It’s amazing what you learn & discover when you make the effort to view your surroundings through the eyes of another.

Friend, co-worker, boss, family member, acquaintance or child.

Zooming Through a Sensational Sunday

This Sunday started with an 8K run through The Maryland Zoo

It’s called the Zoo Zoom. There were critters at the start…

and the last mile we ran through the zoo. I HAD to stop and take a picture of the Chimpanzees.

It was so early all the animals were out and about.

I came home to two hungry boys and made myself a smoothie.

I know it’s weird, but after a long run I’m never in the mood to eat. My latest smoothie creation is 1/2 banana, kale, frozen blueberries, protein powder, dark cocoa powder and almond milk. UPDATE: Click here for the recipe and a video post of how to make this smoothie.

We drew while eating (drinking) our breakfasts.

Then danced while we cleaned up.

Our chore for the day: Clean out and organize the mudroom.

It’s been so unorganized we just throw our coats on the floor. Yes. That bad.

Within minutes I lose my cleaning partner.

But it was all good. The brothers are bonding.

What’s the saying? It’s gotta get worse before it gets better?

Little Bean went to nap and Little Guy hit the Legos while I finished.

Then we had the big reveal.

LUNCH TIME!

The boys split half an avocado. A quesadilla for Big Brother and Banana Blueberry "Pudding" for Little Bean.

I plan on making that our next Baby Food Adventure.

I made myself some Bulgur with Peas and Pomegranate

It’s been awhile. I forgot how good it was! Click here for the recipe.

After lunch the boys and I hit the park.

It was so warm I was able to wear my birks.

I hope it stays mild like this for a little longer. I’m loving it!

We got back from the park just in time for me to leave for my date. I met an old friend at the movies. We found a late run theater that shows matinees for $3. That’s THREE DOLLARS. How awesome! We saw The Help and it was A-mazing! I laughed. I cried. Definitely a must see.

I got back to hungry boys AGAIN…

Actually, only 2 hungry boys. The Husband fed the baby. He can handle opening a jar of baby food, but that’s about it. ;)

I was planning on making Tacos but they convinced me to pick up KFC on the way home from the movie and honestly, I was relieved. I’m not sure I had the energy to cook dinner.

Our KFC meal of choice: a 10 Piece bucket with mashed potatoes and baked beans. I get some grilled for me and the rest original for them.

After dinner….

Then my day ended like this…

Ok, MUST go. I’m literally falling asleep at my computer, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. This Sensational Sunday was a success!

A Sensational Sunday Through Pictures

Little Guy and I got up early and hung out. It was so awesome!

We had some fun in the kitchen. Well, I did. Bean just sort of watched. Click here for the A Simple Minted Mango Crêpe.

I also had fun going through some stuff Mom pulled out of storage.

Little Guy joined in time to see a remnant of my 80's patch obsession.

Laundry time. This week I got the whole family involved.

What goes through her head? Seriously! Look at the expression!

While I straightened up, Little Guy and The Husband put together ANOTHER LEGO set.

I needed a break and made some quick tuna salad that I served on cucumber rounds. SO fun and tasty.

By the time I was done, so were they.

He’s really loving the sets and it’s great Father/Son time for them.

Of course AFTER I clean up he wants to play with the messiest stuff ever.

Time to head out! Lunch and a movie on our agenda!

Z-Burger it was. Little Guy is obsessed with their pomegranate shake. He’s a pom fanatic!

I got a veggie burger with all the veggies and we split fries. I was a bit disappointed. Their veggie patties used to be spicy and black bean based. Now they are pretty plain. Next time I’m going turkey.

ALL my boys watching Cars 2. Best photo I could take in the dark. :) Note: Cars 2 was just OK in my opinion. Little Guy LOVED it.

Dinner was a mish-mash. I had the last Bacon Cheese Inside Out Turkey Burger from the freezer, the boys had fish sticks, and I made a big batch of Quick Sugar Snap Peas. Oh! And that’s a beer in the background. I had a craving. :)

After that it was bath and bed for the kids.

The only other thing I squished in was a trip to the grocery store after dinner. I’m totally ready for the week!

Making Through Weight Loss Changes With Weight Loss Surgery ...

With more people becoming more and more health conscious, people tend to try out almost all sorts of weight loss programs. The kind of program that one engages into varies depending on the lifestyle that one has. For more adventurous people, the weight loss challenge of going through rigid weight loss training and exercise is seen with a positive outlook.

But for non athletic inclined individuals, all they see in the program is pain and agony that they certainly are not determined to last. Another alternative is the diet menu for weight loss which is not too acceptable for many people because they find it too hard to control their appetite. The next solution consists of the weight loss pills which could be very temporary and costly solution. One permanent and promising solution is the weight loss surgery which at present is advised by many who are members of the weight loss surgery message boards.

As mentioned by many of the weight loss experts, the decision to take weight loss surgery can be very difficult for many people. Nonetheless, when you decide to take the surgery, you need to be prepared and conditioned for the process. It would require you to know the details that you need to know about the entire process. Weight loss surgery message boards provided for by many of the online weight loss surgery support groups, is a great venue for you to learn some of these procedures from the first hand experiences of those who were also able to take the surgeries.

Likewise, out of these weight loss surgery message boards, you would be able to know the insights of others on the process like you can ask them things that bother you. During the pre-operation stage, many things may trouble you which cause some of your apprehensions like what the surgery is really like, the pains that you need to undergo, the benefits that it may bring and most especially the changes that may possibly happen after the surgery. Through the message boards, you are able to know the best insights and answers for your concerns from people who know exactly how it is like.

The main thrust of the program is really to prepare you not only physically but also emotionally and psychologically for the weight loss surgery. The message boards provide a venue for people to help you throughout the process who are always there to guide you and to comfort you in a life changing decision that you are to take and to help you recover and adjust with the changes after the surgery. The members of the message boards are there to support you in every way of your journey to a healthier and fitter you.

New Baby Pics from St. Patrick’s Day Through This Sensational Sunday!

We interrupt our regularly scheduled Sensational Sunday to present "The Baby"…

That’s right! Little Bean decided to join us a little early. On 7:35PM St. Patrick’s Day I was holding my new, 5lb 8oz, 19.5 inch baby boy…

I’ll give the whole story in tomorrow’s "pregnancy" update but to make a long story short, my water broke 3:30AM on March 17. A few hours later I found myself strolling around the hospital waiting patiently…

then…. PUSH…

BABY!

I’m still in a bit of shock. For all my preparation and talk about wanting him to come early it threw me off THIS early. I mean just look at him…

He’s SO small! Especially compared to my first who was 8lb 6oz.

Speaking of, he’s handling all this pretty well but it’s been, of course, a bit overwhelming for him. So we’ve been keeping it fun, for all our sake’s…

Oh! and both my little boys look SO much a like. Seriously… look at this…

:)

All in all we are all doing great…

The only one NOT affected by our new edition…

She’s been cool as a cucumber. ;)
