Tribe Mediterranean Style Hummus Review

Tribe Mediterranean Hummus

I got a few flavors of Tribe Hummus to try - I LOVE hummus, and I immediately set to work putting it on any and everything. First flavor I randomly reached for was the Tribe Mediterranean Style Hummus. It's described as having, "a light drizzle of olive oil and dusting of paprika on top of classic hummus."

NUTRITION FACTS
Serving Size: 2 tbsp (28 grams)
Calories: 70
Total Fat: 5 grams, 8%
Saturated Fat: 0%
Sodium: 120 mg, 5%
Carbohydrates: 4 grams
Fiber: 1 gram, 4%
Sugars: 0 grams
Protein: 2 grams

Classic hummus pretty much tastes the same no matter what the brand, and the paprika & garlic add a subtle flavor. But what really sets this Tribe hummus apart is how creamy and rich this hummus is. I expected for it to be okay, but when I had it on top of some Back to Nature Organic Saltine Crackers, but it turned out to be spectacular.

Each 2 tablespoon serving of Tribe Mediterranean Style Hummus provides 70 calories, 5 grams of total fat (8% of the daily value), no saturated fat, 120 mg sodium (5% of the DV), 1 gram of fiber, no sugars and 2 grams of protein.

The ingredients are, cooked chickpeas (chickpeas, water), tahini (ground sesame), canola oil, dried roasted garlic, salt, citric acid, extra virgin olive oil, spices, paprika, parsley.

I use hummus as a spread instead of butter, but not too much because it's still calorie heavy. As I mentioned before, I received samples courtesy of the company, but Tribe Mediterranean Style Hummus is available at my local grocery store at $3.99 for an 8 ounce container, and this flavor is really good, so if you haven't tried it already - what are you waiting for?!

Veggie Patch Mediterranean Spinach & Chickpeas Patties Review

I've been cutting back a bit on the meat eating in my diet lately, and checking out vegetarian alternatives. I really enjoyed the Veggie Patch Chik'n Cutlets, so I decided to also try their Spinach & Chickpeas Patties

NUTRITION FACTS
Serving Size: 1 patty (70 grams)
Calories: 120
Total Fat: 5 grams, 8%
Saturated Fat: 0.5 grams, 3%
Sodium: 350 mg, 15%
Carbohydrates: 16 grams
Fiber: 5 grams, 20%
Sugars: 2 grams
Protein: 5 grams

I followed the directions of 11-13 minutes in the toaster oven (but you can also do it in the microwave). The outer breadcrumb crust was crispy and the texture of the patty itself was slightly firm, not too soft and mushy. I ate the patty as is, and found there was a very slight spinach flavor, and I quite liked it. If you're a meat eater, this might take a little getting used to. The next time I had it, I added hot sauce - which I add to a lot of things, and it was even better. The chcikpeas didn't seem to be as much as pictured on the packaging, but it really wasn't missed.

Coupons.com

Each of the Veggie Patch Mediterranean Spinach & Chickpeas Patties provides 120 calories, 5 grams of total fat (8% of the daily value), 0.5 grams of which is saturated fat (3% of the DV), 350 mg sodium, 5 grams of fiber (20% of the DV), 2 grams of sugars and 2 grams of protein. There are no artificial flavors or preservatives and the ingredients list includes, spinach, onions, water, breadcrumbs (wheat flour, salt, parsley, yeast, sunflower oil, paprika oleoresin [color]), vegetable oil (sunflower and/ or canola), chickpeas, chicory fiber, cellulose fiber, pea fiber, egg whites, wheat flour, corn flour, rice flour, contains 2% of guar gum, modified cellulose gum, salt, yeast extract, spices, dry mustard, lemon juice concentrate, garlic powder, cultured dextrose, soy protein concentrate, corn starch, dextrin.

A pack comes with 12 patties. These are only available at Costco (more stores coming soon hopefully), and I received samples to review from the company so I'm not sure of the price. I do love this though and will definitely be on the hunt for these.
