Post Event Blah

It happens every time I run a big event. From 5ks through the marathon, anything I train for and then complete ends with a post-event blah period.

I’m not sure why or the psychology behind it. It just is, and I’m pretty used to it now. I’ve learned to cut myself some slack and roll with it.

I picked back up my food journal, got a little work done, took the kids to the park and relaxed. My body needed it!

Right now I’m on the couch next to Irish and Mr. Dorito Man.

I had one and then thought better of it. Those darn things are so freakin’ addictive. So I hit the fridge, cut some cucumber, topped it with The Laughing Cow and turkey pepperoni.

Compromise, baby. I’m having a snack but not THAT snack. Know what I mean?

Anyway, I just wanted to pop in and let you know I’m still alive after this weekend, sore has hell, but alive. :)

Oh! and I finally updated the links above to add my workout history. Sorry, for my random post tonight. I’m distracted by The Following.

Potassium Iodide In Case of Nuclear Event: Hurricane Sandy Just Proved Why You Need Some

My stomachs nearly dropped when I read the news about the New Jersey nuclear reactor put on alert status due to Hurricane Sandy. I don’t claim to know the inter-workings of nuclear power plants, but it’s clear that natural disasters and power plants do NOT mix. Fukushima anyone?

Here’s what happened due to Hurricane Sandy…

This New Jersey situation seriously hits close to home, but there are reactors all across the country, and with it comes the potential for shit to hit the fan for any of you out there.

If you haven’t read my previous post, Potassium Iodide: Anti-Radiation Tablets In Case of Nuclear Event, then please…do it now. What I’m talking about right now isn’t for entertainment, or laughs and giggles. It’s a serious matter you need to be prepared for.

My family already has potassium iodide on deck for a situation such as this. We’re ready to rock ‘n roll and pop these dang pills if needed. But what about YOU?

Potassium Iodide tablets are cheap. It cost less than you ordering yourself a soup & sammich; less then two cups of fancy coffee at that Starbucks place.  There’s absolutely no reason and no excuse not to have a stash of potassium iodide on hand for you and your family. It’s the simplest, easiest thing you can do to protect yourself in the event of a nuclear emergency. Don’t be left ass out when shit hits the fan.

If skepticism has got the best of ya, then go on and call me the crazy lady or the queen of major hype. It doesn’t really matter. My job is done here so long as you’re informed. The ball is in your court now. Get the full deets on why you need a stash of potassium iodide and how it works. Then go on and do as you see fit.
