Vega Whole Food Vibrancy Bar (Barre Vibrancy) Review

Vega Whole Food Vibrancy Bar (Barre Vibrancy)

Vega Whole Food Vibrancy Bars contain a blend of all-natural, raw, organic, and enzymatically-active plant-based superfoods including sprouted buckwheat, sprouted almonds, white chia seeds and hemp seeds. Unlike traditional cooked and processed bars, Vibrancy bars are 85% raw, alkaline and enzymatically alive, requiring less energy to digest and providing a greater net energy gain, according to their website. I tried the Barre Vibrancy variety which I picked up at a local health food store.

NUTRITION FACTS
Serving Size: 1 bar (50 grams)
Calories: 200
Total Fat: 9 grams, 14%br> Saturated Fat: 1 gram, 5%
Sodium: 10 mg, < 1%
Carbohydrates: 22 grams
Fiber: 5 grams, 20%
Sugars: 12 grams
Protein: 9 grams

The taste is interesting. The bar was moist, dense, plus there was a bit of crunch from the specks of almonds. It's slightly sweet, although since it looks like a date-based bar (like the LaraBar Cherry Pie Bar), I was expecting it to be sweeter than it was. There was also a slightly chalky taste, but overall I have to say that I enjoyed the bar ... BUT I have to admit to myself that what made me think more highly of it was that I knew it was made with good for you stuff - at least the ingredients list sounds impressive ... sprouted buckwheat, dates, hemp seed, sprouted almonds, agave nectar, brown rice protein, pea protein, Vega EFA Oil Blend (hemp seed oil, flax seed oil, pumpkin seed oil, coconut oil, green tea seed oil, pomegranate seed oil, cranberry seed oil), Salba, acai, sorghum puffs. Most of the ingredients are organic, and the bar is gluten free as well.

Each 50 gram Vega Whole Food Vibrancy Bar (Barre Vibrancy) provides 200 calories from 9 grams of total fat, 1 gram of which is saturated (14% and 5% of the daily value), 5 grams of fiber (20% of the DV), 12 grams of sugars and 9 grams of protein.

Each Vibrancy bar features 17.5 grams of sprouts, rich in enzymes and phytonutrients, approximately 10 g of raw protein for easy digestion, 4 grams of Omega 3 and 6 essential fatty acids, as well as 5 grams of soluble and insoluble fibre (20% of daily value). I could definitely get with this nutrition bar more often, although the price tag is a bit high at $2.18 per bar. I would buy this more often if I could find it a little cheaper because I'm impressed with the ingredients list, and the taste and nutrition facts aren't too bad either.
