One of our FAVE DAYS up in herre & one we celebrated with WILD (albeit early) abandon on Saturday.
As a result, Im tweaking it a bit today.
Just a tad (since this is a fitness blog & all) and asking you to exercise with your pirate before you run off and get all kinds of crazyassdrink and talk like him later today.
Of course Im never one to ask you to do something Id not do myself—so Ive led the proverbial way.
Early this morning.
With a rather unwilling, unhappy, cursing like a sailor pirate pirate.
(I know he appears happy. Do not be misled.)
Ever cautious I insisted he warm up FIRST.
Next we moved on to some fun core work: hooping!
Since, to his pirate’y chagrin he didnt rock the hoop, I segued next to something at which he excelled: resistance training!
(I know it looks like a jump rope here. I blame his hook.)
Ever the vigilant trainer I intuited my pirate needed some agility & speed work. I quickly set up some cones for him to run.
Once he cooled down a bit and his cold pirate heart’s rate returned to normal we headed outside for some swiss ball push-ups.
(Indeed these do resemble planks. I learned the hard way unless you want to walk one—do not tell him so.)
Finally, because I gave up trying to teach him how to use my beloved lacrosse ball for his booty (rimshot!), we did some foam rolling and called it a day.
In all seriousness (can you even say that with a post like this one?) we really do embrace, celebrate and go a wee bit overboard on Talk like a Pirate Day around here.
But dont panic.
