Yesterday I took the boys and met Big Phat Mama at the Zoo. We had a blast!
I decided to pack a bunch of snacks instead of buying lunch. It worked out great. When I got hungry, I just grabbed another snack out of my bag. Sometimes I think we focus too much on structured meals. There’s nothing wrong with skipping a big meal now and then and replacing it with functional snacks. At least it works for me.
When I got home it was dinner and then workout time. My run was great.
Chart from Nike+
It’s amazing how 2 miles starts to seem like a cinch once you get into the 5 mile range. I did 4 miles on Tuesday and it nearly killed me. I walked a bunch, slowing my pace down to about 12 and half minutes a mile. Last night? I breezed through the run. Stopping only to turn around. I felt fantastic!
When I got home I was HUNGRY! It was late, around 10pm and I stared at the pantry wondering what I could grab quick. Popcorn? Cheese and crackers? Granola bar? DORITOS?
No, no, no, NO!
Instead I decided to make this…
A whole grain sandwich thin topped with some leftover skillet veggies, a bit of leftover chicken, and an ounce of muenster cheese on top.
It. Was. Delicious. And way more satisfying than anything I could have pulled out of that pantry. I haven’t officially calculated the nutritional info, but I’m estimating it to be about 250 calories. Do you know how fast I could have ate 250 calories of Doritos and been left still unsatisfied?
Umm about 2.5 seconds.
I’ve been snack grabbing instead of getting creative and it’s definitely affecting my weight loss and motivation.
Anyway. Here’s yesterday’s food journal. I was planning on posting it last night, but it was just too late. I can not BELIEVE how fast the day seems to fly by anymore. It seems like every second is accounted for.
1 egg/1 egg white with onion, zucchini and bacon bitsI always feel better when I start my day with eggs. small steak, sweet potato fries, roasted veggiesGreat dinner with the family! :) “pizza” made on a sandwhich thin with leftover skillet veggies, leftover chicken and 1 oz of cheeseHungry and didn’t want to go nuts on the snacks. Instead I made this and was totally satisfied! 2 mile run and weight training
