(Photo) Half-Azzing Friday

…or call it whatever you want. Here’s a pic I posted on my Facebook page this week: Shoulder press with the sledgehammer. Since this is a re-hash from Facebook, my blog for today is therefore…half-azzed? I dunno.

I’ve been burnt out this week. My carpal tunnel is acting up in a major way. It’s to the point where I can barely sleep anymore. Might just give in and finally get surgery. And, oh ya, my kid broke his foot. Senior year at the start of Cross Country season is the worst time for this to happen to him. ((sigh))

Yet my blessings are too many to count. Still smiling. Still driven. Still hell bent on making life epic.

I’ve got a new Workout Motivation vid coming at ya most likely on Wednesday, so watch for it! Enjoy your weekend, my friend. XO.

Four on a Friday (VEGAS edition)

Because really what says VEGAS more than TUTUS?

By the time you read this Ill be happily on a plane, snuggled with my Kindle, and heading toward Las Vegas.

I could do an entire series of posts about how much I adore flying.

The abdication of control. The navigation resting on someone elses shoulders. The slice of (relative) silence in an otherwise harried world.  The fact Ive been married to a reluctant flier for 15 years and STILL dont understand said reluctantnessment.

Love. Love. Love.

Which leads me to my fabulous (or at least bullet’ed for your reading pleasure) four on a friday.

Today I may be obsessively practicing my talk be less laid back than on other flights as Im heading to Vegas to do a presentation.  For a brand (read: to grown-ups).  About harnessing the power of Twitter (specifically) & social media (in general).   Im excited. Im ready. Im not donning the tutu till Im finished (for those of you, like Ren Man, who were worried) and I plan to phone-blog any and all adventures. After this brief trip Im homebound until I head off to Los Angeles & Blog World/New Media Expo. Im speaking on the subject of Finding a Better Fit.    My panel will focus on transitioning passions (blogging and fitness) into business partnerships with brands & how to each manage blogging/social media engagement to translate personal brands into viable business opportunities.  (translation: My co-panelists Kelly, Andrea, Leah & Steph are amazing, savvy women. I plan to listen & take notes as well as speak)

And ever the misfit (where on earth she gets it from I have no idea!!!) the Tornado insisted on wearing both sets around the house for a while FLEXING and attempting to shatter then with her emerging bicep muscles:

Hmmm I guess thats really it.  Duly noted I only had three—but am unflaggingly smitten with alliteration.

So that’s where I am on this friday:

Flying, not tutu wearing (yet!), hydrating, & excited to head to LA soon.

And you?

What shall I do with my free time in Vegas? (it has been so so long since Ive been there!) Got any tips for me?

Are you still Brita challenging? Did you procure you some bangles or rubberbands as well?

Are you heading to Blog World Expo? Attending VIRTUALLY?

Do you live in LA? Shall we meet up and frolic while Im there?

Happy Good (to be home) Friday!

(I’m back in Austin with these two. *cue confetti shaped like, well, these two*)

Just as all families do–we have myriad misfit’y quirky habits up in herre.

By way of example, when one of us shouts:

What’s the most important thing?

The rest, no matter what s/he is doing, must STOP! & scream

FAMILY!!

(please to tell me you’re aware of the Arrested Development scene from which this was stolen originated. If not, please to consider spending a part of this weekend viewing the first episode of aforementioned Arrested Development series.)

After being gone for four days I plan to spend the next 24 hours shouting, at various & sundry intervals, the five words listed above.

And playing.

Lots & lots of laughing and playing.

I’ll be back Monday.

Double Wrap Up Friday

I didn’t post a wrap up last friday and I must admit I felt a bit lost. I’m getting a bit dependent on these posts to conclude my week. I can’t believe how much it helps!

I’ve been quite a busy bee these past two weeks. With only 5 weeks to go before baby, I’m trying hard to balance working while preparing. Here’s what I’ve been up to…

I’ve pretty much kept up with my own self-inflicted blogging schedule. I posted two Weekend Quotes, Being Proud, and Less and More, but I doubt I’ll get one written by tomorrow unless I get REALLY inspired. I have a busy day planned; boot camp, a friend’s daughter’s birthday party, Little Man’s soccer game AND a date night with hubby. We are trying to squish a few in before baby. I have a feeling we won’t be going out alone for quite some time come April. ;)

I also posted two podcasts, two Sensational Sundays with tons of pictures, two pregnancy update videos, and two Questions of the Week, What 5 Things Would You Do Everyday? and one of my favorites, What 5 things would you tell yourself? The comments alone are worth re-reading. Love all the life lessons!

Finally, last Friday I posted some questions about how to calculate the new PointsPlus on Weight Watchers and I feel bit less confused. There were some great insights in the comments!

Favorite pic of the week…

Somehow I posted FOUR times. That’s the most I’ve posted in a long time.

I had TONS of fun on @Poop_Butt (<– my slang for the site and twitter name)

Favorite picture of the week…

Nothing. Nada. I need to carve a day out each week that’s devoted to the community but I don’t see that happening until AFTER the baby and the conference.

I’ve shared so much these past two weeks here’s a few of my favorites!

The latest addition to our LEGO mini figure collection. We are quite obsessed.

I experimented with a honey/yogurt cake idea but it turned out like a muffin. I want to try one more thing before I post it. Little man loved it though.. so I may share my initial idea this weekend if I have time.

Posted 3/3 on Facebook.”I’m going with a fitted maternity shirt and totally embracing the belly today.” :)

More of the same. At this point I’m just trucking along and have too many open projects to even wrap my head around anything else. I’m all about the baby, the conference, keeping things fresh on the sites and of course, my family. I am considering registering for a race in June to set a running goal but I’m worried it might be too much too soon. So I’m playing it by ear at this point. Those that have babies know.. there is only so much you can plan. I’m going to be entering reaction mode VERY shortly.

It’s Friday? Seriously?

What a week! Lots of exciting stuff going on and it’s kept me from writing. This trend will continue for awhile, but I’ll still check in here a few days a week. Promise!

First of all, a big hello to new Lynn’s Weigh readers! Thank you for all your comments and emails since the article “8 Amazing Blogger Weight-Loss Transformations” showed up on Yahoo on Monday. Many of you had similar questions, so I’ve added a Frequently Asked Questions page link at the top. On the FAQ page you’ll find links to blogs I’ve written about how I started, what others say about the journey, loose skin, and food.

Second, grandbaby #3 is due in three weeks! I think it’s a boy, but Cassie, Matt and especially Claire thinks it’s a girl. Claire really wants a sister.

Claire is 3 and she kind of gets the “new baby” concept. Luca (20 months) has no clue, just as Claire had no clue what was about to rock her world when her parents came home from the hospital with Luca.

? ?
I was bouncing Claire and Luca on my lap last week and I said to Claire, “Oh no! Grammy only has two legs! Where will I bounce the third baby?”

She looked at me with her big eyes and I could see she was trying to figure out a solution.

“I know,” I said. “I’ll grow a third leg.”

“You can grow a third leg?” she said.

“I’m gonna try,” I said.

I, of course, completely forgot I’d told her that, but Claire didn’t. She doesn’t forget anything. When I saw her Tuesday, she lifted up my pant leg and asked, “Have you grown that third leg yet?”

I’m not sure how I’m going to get out of this one. ?
Cassie at Christmas. She's popped exponentially since then :)
Cassie went into labor both times a few days before the babies’ due dates and so I’m hoping g-baby #3 got that memo, too. I’m Grammy-On-Call to watch Claire and Luca when Cassie’s water breaks and you know my family means everything to me and I’d do anything for them, but Grammy has tickets to Bon Jovi on Feb. 12...LOL

Third, my new fitness schedule was pushed back a week and will begin next week when I join the Y. Since my knee surgery in June, my workouts have been spotty at best. I’ve developed an “I can’t” mentality which has pervaded even the things I know I can do.

I’ve been working on a mental strategy to get motivated again. I know working out among people at the Y will help immensely. It was always a major motivator to push myself as hard as the woman next to me on the elliptical or the guy lifting weights in the weight room. Yes, I have my limitations and I have to be creative, especially when it comes to cardio, but I’m tired of feeling like a slug and I’m especially tired of this tire developing around my middle. My weight hasn’t changed much, but I definitely have lost muscle mass in the last seven months. I WILL, however, be tank-top ready by May!

Fourth, there’s this guy… *grin* That’s all I’ll say on that right now

Until next week, have a great weekend, be good to yourselves, eat well and move!

This Friday Totally ROCKED!

How NICE was it out today?!? Here in Maryland it was in low 70's and sunny. I took a nice mile walk at lunch and brought little man to the park after school. That was two nice strolls for my pregnant butt. Plus some fresh air and SUN! ohhh the sun. It has me even more ready for Spring!

This week was hectic as usual. I wouldn’t have it any other way. :)

Posted Wednesday – I DID it! Ugliest thing I ever drank but pleasantly surprised!
I’ve been experimenting with kale in my smoothies. Long story! Will post more on GreenLiteBites soon!

Posted Thursday – Irish is loving the baby bump. She has a new spot. :)

I’m almost done with my presentation for the WordPress Meet-up in Baltimore. Now I’m really getting nervous!Continue planning FitBloggin’Finish washing all the baby clothesI’m working on a post about PointsPlus and discrepancies when calculating for recipes. I brought up the questions on this salad idea. Planning on going to Boot camp tomorrow. Not sure how much I’ll do. I’m getting real uncomfortable.

Ok, that’s about it for me this Week. I’m shutting down and disconnecting. The husband and I are about to watch a movie. We have Buried!

Friday Sanity Check!

Ok, I’ve told you this before. These Friday posts are way more for my sanity then anything else. I literally need to open up the top of my head and dump everything that’s been swimming in there so I can move on. It’s strange, I know.

Posted Monday – I’m trying to work here. I mean SERIOUSLY…

Posted Tuesday – It’s official! I’ve replaced my evening sorbet addiction w/ green smoothies! This 1 is banana, mango, strawberries w/ spinach!

As if I wasn’t crazy enough, I committed to speaking at the next WordPress Meet-up in Baltimore. I would normally be nervous but I’m doubly so considering I’ll be giving the talk 8 months pregnant and feeling quite insecure in my body. Gotta pick the giveaway winnerContinue planning FitBloggin’Work on the nurseryoh! and hitting up Boot camp tomorrow. I feel the need to MOVE! :)

WOW huge weight just lifted off my shoulders. Gotta run. House is a mess. 25 minute before little man gets off the bus!

It’s FRIDAY! You know how I know?

My house is a mess. We let the 5 year old stay up late to watch a movie. (This week it was Temple of Doom)I’m exhausted!I have 2 full laundry baskets taunting me. I had to battle the husband on eating out. Again. I won. ;)I have Boot Camp tomorrow. It time to write a wrap up post. I need to close up the week in the name of sanity.

ok.. deep breath…

Last weekend’s quote was about perfection followed by another Sensational Sunday with lots of pets. :) I posted my Week 30 pregnancy video! WEEK 30! I asked Where you go for support, hung out with my buddy Foodie and posted a new podcast.

I made The Quickest 3 Bean Chili Ever, blended up a new Green Smoothie with Little Man for a video post which prompted a lively discussion in the comments and shared the 10 spices I really can’t live without.

All I had time for this week was a quick post about our favorite kid friendly iPad games.

I shared a fun fortune cookie, a favorite movie of mine, a clean kitchen that lasted all of about 3 hours, and a cute picture of Irish the cat.

I shared another session overview and announced a Cherry Recipe contest by one of our sponsors.

NOTHING! Ugh.. I’m totally disrespecting our community. I have about 10 post ideas started and a new challenge I’ve been wanting to share but the time to do them is escaping me.

The only other thing I can think of is my failed attempt recipe this week. Jen asked if I could "Roni-fy" this recipe for Peaches and Cream Muffins by Paula Deen. First attempt… utter FAIL. I’m not giving up though. I love the idea of a peachy muffin! :)

oh! oh! OH! For those that care, I’ve been making strides on the nighttime teeth hygene thing. Writing this post about unhealthy habits really helped! I’m even flossing. lol I had to force myself the first couple of nights but now I’m settling into a pattern. According to this post on PsyBlog, I have a couple months to go before it becomes a habit but I’m making the effort!

Hope you had a great week! Let’s enjoy the weekend. :)
