I keep emergency syrups in my purse because….

…I take my pancake-ing very seriously.

syrup I keep emergency syrups in my purse because....We do breakfast out about 2-3 times a month. I refuse to be served inferior/nasty/unhealthy syrup filled with high fructose cornyness. Or even worse, some other type of chemical-laden artificial sweetener. That is just tragedy.

So I whip the mini bottle of syrup I keep emergency syrups in my purse because.... outta my purse when the emergency transpires. The bottles never run dry. I just fill them with more maple syrup.

The benefits of maple syrup are downright impressive. If I only had a maple tree out back, I’d drill a hole in that bad boy, stick a tap in it and guzzle down. You would also be invited to guzzle down with me.

But, whoa. You’re totally cooking the pancakes if you come over.

Weekend Quote: I Run Because…

This is a special challenge-inspired weekend quote. I hopped on Facebook really quick this morning and saw this:

970858_10151605536524323_392493251_n

Oh how I love a good daily challenge! And since I pretty much retired #YogaADay and #DailyYogurt for myself, I think it’s a good time to move on to #RWRunStreak.

According to Runner’s World, the idea is to run at least one mile per day, every day, starting on Memorial Day (Monday, May 27) and ending on Independence Day (Thursday, July 4). That’s 39 consecutive days of running!

This is going to be tough for me with the conference quickly approaching, but it’s exactly the type of thing I NEED. By forcing me to take at least 10 minutes (I run a 10-minute mile on average) a day for myself it will let me clear my head and relieve some stress.

In honor of this challenge I sought a running-related quote and this one couldn’t be more perfect.

“I run because it’s so symbolic of life. You have to drive yourself to overcome the obstacles. You might feel that you can’t. But then you find your inner strength and realize you’re capable of so much more than you thought.”
– Arthur Blank

I couldn’t agree more. Running has really changed me and my perception of what I’m capable of. I still remember the feeling of running for the first time on the treadmill, and if I think about crossing the finish line of my first-ever 5k, I’m not going to lie, my eyes start to well with tears.

It really is that emotional for me. I told myself over and over again it wasn’t possible, but I was really capable of so much more – SO MUCH MORE.

I just needed a little confidence to try.

So …

Who’s willing to push themselves out of their comfort zone? If you are not currently a runner, commit to a walk and try just a little trot, maybe a jog, every day. You may surprise yourself!

I’ll be posting a photo on Instagram and Twitter using #RWRunStreak. Tag me (@RoniNoone) if you want to join in. I’d love to follow your progress too!

Oh! and if you have questions about the challenge, Runners World has a great FAQ.

…because at the CORE we’re all the same.

Im awake.

Im coffee-free because it’s Yom Kippur and we’re not supposed to drink PERIOD let alone have the nectar of the G-ds which is the only thing that gets this woman out of bed at 4a.

So Im on the computer puttering around and checking my email.

Which, now that I consider it, is probably ALSO not ‘allowed’ on this day of atonement—-but I shall forgive myself this one transgression and assume you will as well.

I decided not to do a FITBLOGGIN recap.

Im a misfit that way and live the bulk of my life trying valiantly to ‘do unto others.’ My thought with this was I’d already tweeted, instagrammed and Facebooked my weekend so if you werent there you already got a big ole taste from me & the 250 other attendees.

My thought with this was if you DIDNT go this year you either decided NOT TO because you werent interested or you didnt because you COULDNT for one reason or another.

My thought with this was you were READY for the weekend to be done and hear no mo’ about the event.

Apparently I was incorrect.

My inbox has been filled with emails asking where the “live blogging” of sessions is housed and if my session (attracting traditional media and finding success as a freelance writer) was live blogged.

I saw this morning ALL THE SESSION TRANSCRIPTS are up at Fitbloggin.com.

My session specifically (live blogged by this amamamamazing woman) can be found here.

Now back to the title of this post—-which has everything and nothing to do with Fitbloggin.

Six years ago this was the tagline of my brand & my header was a smattering of red apples with one lone green apple sticking out like a sore….apple.

Little did I know then it was also foreshadowing to the fact Id turn 42 and my core MUSCLES would go all to hell.

I reflected a lot upon this over the weekend.

The fact branding can be fluid (Ill bet no one recalls that was my initial tagline and yet when I changed it I was so.very.NERVOUS. and it felt like a huge deal) & how all of us at the conference—at the core—-were exactly the same.

Stripped of our external trappings and deep in our core we are all the same.

Ive stared for a long time at the photo below (and not JUST because I covet this womans amazing style) for that very reason.

At first glance we appear as different as people (& bloggers) could be and yet, at the core, we are so similar it surprised even me.

Yes. The Tornado COVETS her dress….

And with that Im off.

No proof-reading. No editing. And no caffeine to be certain this post isnt rougharoundtheedges.

Because it really doesnt matter, right?

Be you fancy-pants famous bookdeal/tvdeal blogger or newtotheblogworld with only yourself as reader:

…at the core we’re all the same.

Because you’re not at ALL busy this time of year…

(These days there’s a fine line between NAPPING & YOGA for me…)

A while ago I jetted off to LA to speak on a panel about branding, blogging, and making your passion your income.

(I know. That last piece was an attention grabber for me, too.  I learned a TON while sitting on the panel which is the reason I want to share…)

One of you I was swamped by requests for a link to the panel, but had assumed it was something only available with a virtual ticket to the event.

Blog World was gracious enough to allow me to share the recording and I encourage you to watch it when you have the time.

There’s lots of helpful information shared by panelists and interesting audience questions addressed as well (and yeah. my name is misspelled. you’ll have that. a lot.)

The above video is only one of over 100 recorded sessions from BlogWorld Los Angeles 2011. You can get all of the videos — plus nearly 100 bonus interviews and other bonus content — by picking up the entire Virtual Ticket here: http://www.blogworldexpo.com/virtual-ticket-la-2011/

“We run because we can.”

My Friend Carrie sent me this quote. It almost brought me to tears…

When my children were young, I ran for my sanity, I ran for myself, I ran to set a good example because they watched me move. Today they move alongside me. We run because we can. – Kristin Armstrong, Author and runner

He was there to cheer me on when I first started running.

He was there for my first 5k.

He was there the first time I ran 10 miles.

He was there when I ran the marathon.

He was with me this New Years

He truly is my inspiration turned workout partner

C:\Program

Now he has a little brother.

Who started even younger.

And I’m proud of that.

Other news today…
