Sensational Sunday Shots

It’s been a pretty low-key weekend, which is exactly what I needed. Friday night I had dinner plans with a friend. Saturday I had an at-home date night with The Husband since the 8-year-old was invited to a sleep over. And today? Well, I did what I could with a hangover and a stomach virus.

The 2-year-old awoke ready to play.

First we did the sheep.

Then the duck.

Then the chicken, which ended the way things normally end with toddler boys.

Then the cow.

Then Mom had enough and I shuffled him down to the messy kitchen.

And the cook-fest began.

I didn’t join the CSA this year as I knew I’d be traveling a lot but a friend asked if I wanted her share this week. I happily accepted the 4 bags of farm-fresh produce.

I decided to make an Indian-inspired roasted eggplant soup and it came out phenomenal. I hope to get the recipe up on GreenLiteBites tomorrow.

In addition to the soup, I hard boiled eggs for the week and made these two a bacon and egg breakfast.

It was so weird without the 8-year-old but we still had fun cleaning and getting ready for the week.

I started a project that I’ve been wanted to do for months.

My clothes were in desperate need of organizing. I went through every darn drawer and my closet.

I broke from the crazy clothes purge and we picked up the other kid.

*sigh*

The rest of the day I finished my clothes and took a nap. Then the husband left for tennis and I had dinner with these two.

Why, yes, he is putting spaghetti in his milk.

Anyway, no yoga, no run, nothing today. I needed a break.

Sunday Shots

I’m feeling blah even though I had a wonderful Sensational Sunday with the kids. Frankly, I just don’t feel like talking much so I’m going to let the photos I took speak mostly for themselves.

The day started with a run.

I was feeling great until my knee started bugging me.

We’re doing shots!

MizFit note: this is *not* a sponsored post.  it’s merely an ode of I FREAKIN LOVE YOU to a concept our family adores.

I love my chia.

Ive know Ive beaten this poor dead horse yammered about this seed for close to four years now—but that’s how much I love.

Example #1: The Tornado’s gift to her teacher at the end of the year? A bag of chia.  I joke not.

Example #2: I had three hours of tattooing done last week & spent a third of the time prattling on to my artist how she and her family *need* the tiny superseed.

I love. I love.

Sure, I cook with it –but that’s 100% so Ren Man will eat it other people in the house are able to enjoy its chia-goodness.

I, however, consume it straight from the container and more often than not sans-utensil.  To my chagrin’y delight the Tornado has followed suit.

I adore the taste. I love me the texture. Im drawn to its health-benefits. My dental practitioner is thrilled I now (need to) floss 39843948 times a day.

As a result, it’s no surprise I lost my misfit-mind when Jody pointed out CHIA SHOTS to me.

It was as though The Chia Company slipped inside my brain & formulated a product just for me.

The woman who drives around with this on her passenger seat:

Yes. These ARE meant for a STORE to sell.

I. Love. The. Concept. Of. Grab-n-GO! Packs.

I adore the idea of anything healthy waiting on the counter to be snagged with EASE & tossed into the husbands briefcase my chia-hole.

What’s not to love?!

No the shots are not necessary.

Yes they kindasorta resemble the notion of 100 calorie packs in that I technically *could* create the shots less expensively myself using a baggie & a measuring spoon.

I freakin’ adore the shots.

Not only are they perfect for plopping into my pointy packpack, but because they’re sitting out in such a tempting container the Tornado asks for them all.the.time.

The chia shots allow me to do what I do best—-practice what I preach & say nary a word.

Seriously. How cute are these?!

The only sad thing about the shots and great reminder to this misfit about chia-portion control is they’re gone so quickly.

Rip. Toss back. Done:

S-A-D.

And that’s where our Misfit Family is right now.

Tossing back shots & smiling at the mere *thought* of The Chia Company stumbling upon our quirky-love.

Now you:

Have you/your family climbed aboard the Chia (band) Wagon? Whats your fave way to consume?Would you join us in doing Chia-Shots or do you believe as Ren Man does the Tornado & I have lost our minds?

Please to hit us all up in the comments below.

Snacky Sensational Sunday Shots

This morning it was just me and these two.

Little Guy and The Husband both slept in. I was thinking about going for a run but opted to just hang with baby when I heard him playing in his crib this morning.

I made some banana pancakes….

and we were joined by Little Guy. As you can see this made Bean very happy.

After Breakfast the boys played…

while I made jelly with the fresh strawberries we got at the farm.

I’m planning on posting the recipe on GreenLiteBites tomorrow. I used honey and chia seeds. It came out SO GOOD!

I also made myself a bit cold brew tea.

This is my new drink of choice. I just throw a few tea bags into a large cup of with ice and water.

Laundry sorting was disrupted by a game of cool hat tricks.

He actually got it on The Baby’s head once. It was cute.

Bean went down for nap and The Boys headed out to do the yard…

while I tried my chilled jelly.

I had to do. I just couldn’t wait! It was SO GOOD!

The rest of the morning consisted of…

LEGOs

Hoses

Vacuums

And Lunch.

Their matching expression in that picture CRACKS me up!

Little Guy told me today that they will probably grow up to be good friends.

I think he’s right. :)

I had leftovers of my Sweet Sausage Stir Fry with Bok Choy and Pineapple

Oh! and Little Guy had a PB&J with my homemade jelly. He really liked it!

After lunch The Husband pulled out the Doritos.

argh

Damn Doritos.

After lunch we rallied the troops to pick up some house supplies.

Notice the reusable bags. I remember! YAY!

We spent most of the afternoon out and about running errands and ended with Dinner at Chipotle. I had a Chicken Burrito Bowl sharing some with Little Bean.

We really were out a looong time.

One went mad and the over fell asleep. lol

LEGO mini figure opening time….

We picked up a few packages of the newest series while we were out.

I prepared for the week by hard boiling eggs, making the husband’s macaroni salad (long story) and separating the bulk meats we bought.

Then the Boys folded the laundry…

before playing their first game of MLB.

While I gave Little Bean a bath. :)

It was a great day! We spent the day together, the house is clean and we stocked up supplies. Fun and productive. My favorite kind of day.

I did lose my way on the Snacking Challenge. It started yesterday with 2 birthday parties and ended tonight with a tastycake.

I’m done now.

Hope you had a great weekend! I’m gearing up for a day at the pool and BBQing tomorrow. Happy Memorial Day.
