MizFit meets Giuliana Rancic.

(yes. if I possessed mad photoshop skills G would have a thought bubble reading how EXCITED she is to be here & how Im totally her imaginary BFF, too.)

As I mentioned here I was fortunate to have the opportunity to ask Giuliana Rancic a few questions.

This week Giuliana launches her new site FabFitFun (which makes  her kindasorta a healthy living blogger) where she’ll be sharing insights into how she remains balanced, happy and healthy in the crazy world of Hollywood.

Please to enjoy my G-chat**:

I love your dynamic with your husband, Bill & inexplicably adore how you call him Rancic.  You two seem to have a great balance of best friends and life partners all exemplified by that small action. (MizFit note: I realize I need to get a life. No need to leave that remark in the comments below) I know one of the keys to making my marriage work  is remembering to laugh no matter what life lobs our way.

What’s your biggest tip for my readers regarding choosing a life partner?

A cute butt – just kidding. I think it’s really important to be friends with the person you are committing yourself too.   Looks fade, there’s going to be disagreements but at the end of the day you have to enjoy the company of the person you are living with.  After a tough day there is no one I want to come home to more.  He is always my biggest fan and I am his.  And fine, a good butt doesn’t hurt either.

Speaking of cute butts—is Bill as into fitness as you are? You both look uber-fit.  Is working out something you do together?

Yep, he loves working out.  We love to get outside and be active together – running, hiking, etc. – it makes working out a lot more fun. That was actually one of the things that attracted us to each other. We have the same philosophy when it comes to being healthy and in shape.

Since youre a longterm reader of MizFit I know you already know my running story. What started you running? Have you found the love of the run?

Im renown for ADORING the weights and only doing the cardio because it’s good for my heart. Any tips for finding the cardio-love?

I think doing cardio with a partner helps a lot.  You tend to run faster and longer when you feel responsible for someone else’s workout.  I did not always love running – it was something that I really learned to love.  Of course now I am obsessed with it – I can’t wait to do another marathon.

If you are new to running or just burnt out I would definitely suggest doing sprints! In the morning before work, I hit the treadmill where I do a 5 min warm up, followed by a fast paced walk on a medium incline for 5 minutes.  I then sprint for 2 minutes then go back to the walk at an incline for another 5 minutes then sprint again for 2 and on and on for about 50 minutes.  It breaks the monotony of my cardio and allows me to make phone calls and read a great book on my IPad when I’m walking.  Yes, I read and walk on the treadmill.  I don’t recommend that to clumsy people but for those with coordination, it is a great way to make the time go by while working out your body and your brain!

I ran my first half-marathon at Disney World as a member of their Disney Princess Media Mixer Team (MizFit note: I was a tutu’d media mixer runner tootoo! we have so much in common Oh BFF whom Ive never met!) .  If Id not been running along side women whom I wanted to think I was hardcore (and wearing a tutu!) I swear Id have quit.  What motivated you to sign up? what got you through the training? what carried you through race day?

I think I just love a challenge.  Bill has always been a big runner and I think I just wanted to prove that I could do it as well.  What, do I sound competitive?

Since Im temporarily running derailed Ive been forced to get really creative with my cardio (hello! freeze tag with child! Greetings hula-hooping!)—whats the silliest thing you’ve done or tried in the name of fitness?

I once raced this dog. Seriously I was convinced I could run faster than this Chihuahua down the hallway of my condo.  That bitch beat the hell out of me. Okay, so I’m a little competitive.

Ive lifted weights with my husband for almost 17 years and cant imagine having another partner.  Do you have a training partner? or are you a solo-exerciser?

Rancic is definitely my workout buddy but because of our hectic schedules I do go solo often.

I covet love your mom (on the show. Im a fan but Im not a stalker.). And I *love* the looks of all her food-creations.  How do you enjoy all the Italian treats and stay lean?

My mom is an amazing cook! I love Italian food – I just try to keep everything in moderation. If I indulge in a plate of lasagna for dinner – I will probably go for a lighter chicken salad type lunch the next day.  And most likely go to the gym.  I just try to live a really balanced lifestyle.

When I began my career I thought I wanted to work in television. After interning at a CBS affiliate I saw the immense pressure on-air talent felt with regards to looks & decided to pursue more behind the scenes work.  How on earth do you stay sane and normal when you know your dressing room is filled with sample sizes & there’s always the pressure to be red carpet ready?

There is definitely a ton of pressure in Hollywood to be uber skinny.  I think I created FabFitFun to get away from all of the craziness.   It’s a place that promotes a happy, healthy lifestyle.  Although we all know looking good is great, the truth is that feeling good is even better.  FabFitFun is filled with tips to feel good from the inside out.

I frequently receive comments/emails that it’s ‘really easy’ for me because I’m already fit.  Have you ever struggled with your weight?

Of course – everyone struggles with how the look – especially when they are in the Hollywood spotlight.  I have just learned to take it all with a grain of salt.  I work hard to look and feel my best and try to forget about the rest.

So there you have it, People.

My teeny tiny brush with Hollywood and most likely the closest Ill get to ever being on E! News.

And you?

If you’d had the chance to interview my new friend G** what would you have asked her?

You never know—I mightcould be chatting with her again soon…

**No. I never asked if I could have permission to refer to her as G.  I merely did so.  I possess what my people call chutzpah.
