Michelina's Lean Gourmet cost just $1.00 a few years ago when I first reviewed them, and imagine my surprise looking over the selection in the frozen food aisle, seeing that they still cost $1.00. And they are (supposed to be) a healthier alternative. I decided to try out their Chicken Club FlatBread.
NUTRITION FACTSThis was a decent "flat sandwich" - but let's face it Michelina's, it cannot be folded in two as pictured on the box. One it would be way too messy and the sticky cheese is everywhere and the toppings are also a bit of a mess. But that doesn't mean it wasn't good. The bread is thick and really the star of the show. It's the type of bread you tear off big chunks off and eat. And yeah - there was chicken and a smattering of what looks like bits of bacon (but didn't really taste like it) and lots of cheese as I said before.
Each Michelina's Lean Gourmet Chicken Club FlatBread meal provides 290 calories, 8 grams of total fat, 2.5 grams of which is saturated (12% and 13% of the daily value), 750 mg sodium (31%), 2 grams of fiber, 4 grams of sugars and 15 grams of protein.

SoyJoy Bar Reviews have not been positive and they not something I would normally buy, but when I saw that they were "new and improved" I decided to give them another shot. I picked up the Apple Walnut flavor, which SoyJoy describes as, "a perfect balance of sweet, sour, tart and nutty."
NUTRITION FACTSMy chief complaints with SoyJoy bars were that they are hard, tasteless and dry BUT I have to admit that this Apple Walnut variety is much more moist than it's predecessors. It still looks the same though, and so I was a little apprehensive about what it would taste like, but thankfully, these all natural bars deliver on this aspect too. It is slightly nutty at first, but as you take a bite or 2 more, the apple bits and sweetness shine through more. I liked it, but from the description I expected some sour and tart in it - there was none. Still I was happy with the taste. It feels so weird saying that I like a SoyJoy Bar because I have cursed them bitterly in the past, but there you have it and I'll say it again - the SoyJoy Apple Walnut Bar is good - still small at 30 grams, but tasty.
Each bar provides 140 calories from 6 grams of total fat, 2.5 grams of which is saturated fat (10% and 11% of the daily value), 3 grams of fiber (12% of the DV), 10 grams of sugars and 4 grams of protein.
All SoyJoy Bars are all natural and gluten free, and the ingredients the SoyJoy Apple Walnut Bar are, ground whole soybeans, raisin, butter (from milk), sugar, walnut, egg, dried apple, maltodextrin (natural fiber source), dried pineapple, salt, parmesan cheese (from skim milk), natural flavors.
I purchased this bar for $0.99, and whereas I think Soy Joy Bars (and any other 30 gram bars) are too small a snack for an adult, I would buy this again for the kids.

I really think I was a beach bum in a former life. Every time I’m at the Jersey Shore I wonder why I don’t live closer to the ocean. It just feels like home.
Of course I have tons to tell you but no energy left, so I’ll let the pictures do most of the talking.
These two got me up bright and early.
Their interactions are getting cuter and cuter.
We started the day with a healthy breakfast.
I made sure to stock the beach rental with fresh fruit. I’ll feel better about all the junk knowing I got at least a few servings of fruit and whole grains in the boy. Plus what beats a New Jersey blueberry in July? Ummm pretty much nothing. :)
Soon it was strapping baby on time.
We were headed to the beach!

Soon the stomach started to rumble so I decided to reach for a snack.
"That’s it" sent me some samples of their bars
I must admit, at first glance I wasn’t too impressed…
but they were tasty! At least the apple/apricot one was. Looking forward to trying their other flavors later in the week.
Anyway, little guy asked us to bury him so we obliged.
After a full day in the sun we headed back for showers.
I decided to take my long run while the boys relaxed and watched soccer. (How heartbreaking was THAT?!?)
It was a tough 5 miles, but MAN did I feel awesome afterwards.
That’s week 3 DONE on my training schedule. I can’t believe it! (I’ll wrap up this week with next, as I did shift around workouts becuase of vacation)
When I got back it was time to hit the boards. The rides were calling our names…
We got dinner at a little seafood place and I had the best blackened salmon over greens. For dessert, some Polish Ice. Delicious!
We headed back and chilled for a bit…
Now both kids are sleeping. The Husband is reading. And I’m ready for bed.
Can every day be like this? Please? :)
